Y'all, I saw the finale of Waltz for Eternity, marking the end of the Neon Odyssey campaign. Feels like the end of an era for some reason.
Thoughts and Spoilers below!
Firstly, I am and will forever be a shipping groblin. Varus and Qiri have my entire heart and soul and I would say I would burn down the galaxy for them but they probably wouldn't like that. I love how when he looked at the harmonite crystal at the end, he was reminded of her <3. It was very sweet.
As always, stellar 100/10 acting from everyone at the table. The absolute grief in Andy's voice when Jace was mentally preparing for their final assault on Castle Escalon. The WHOLE THING with "how will I know where to find you if we are faceless" I was DEAD. DEAD I SAY. I HAVE DIED OF GRIEF AND SORROW AAAAAAAA
"I had three brothers, I just hadn't found them until now-" Mace JESUS FUCK CAN YOU GIVE ME A WARNING BEFORE FIRING ON MY HEART WITH A SHOTGUN?????
And when Varus finished off that one member of Oak Squad
"Oak is strong but brittle. Elm can bend, BUT YOU WILL BREAK"

Also I have to admit, I was sad when Dr. Crescent died, and in such a shocking way too, Derek does a fantastic job with those kind of things. I knew he was a goner since there was probably no way they would be able to get him out, but Jace's reaction when he was killed by the general really made me feel for the guy.
I also loved the extended monologue Derek read out of all the funeral precession taking place, how each hometown mourned their respective member of Elm squad, before saying "lol jk" and giving us our happy ending. And that is not sarcasm either, I'm genuinely glad they all made it out okay and would be able to live out the rest of their lives in freedom and (relative) peace. They deserve that much after everything.
My personal headcanon is that Jace ends up getting a personal spaceship. Like in the few years after the big battle he gets the funds and gets in touch with a guy that can sell him one, leaves for the weekend, then comes back with a cruiser like nothing happened. Real "what do you have there?" "a smoothie" type situation. Plus, he gets the spaceship equivalent of a six seated minivan so all of Palm Squad can come with him. Then they all go to Meteor Mall, the end.

That's perfect, they're perfect. This series was perfect, just AAAAA
I kinda wished it lasted just a little bit longer. Not like it needs a season two or anything (though I would love to see the misadventures of Palm Squad). But like, I would have loved to see more episodes during the training arc, more scenes that would emphasize the rivalry between Elm and Oak, more scenes in the jungle with Qiri, just more of Qiri and Varus interacting in general. Out of all the Neon Odyssey campaigns, this one felt like it had the most story left of the cutting room floor, so to speak. Not that it wasn't good, it was great, I just wanted more because I am a filthy shipping groblin WHO SAID THAT-.

I need the waltz for eternity boys + Qiri to play space Just Dance.
Varus dominates at Rasputin, nothing can convince me otherwise. But otherwise he's not nearly limber or coordinated to win most of the other songs. He does give it his all though.
Qiri plays casually and is the epitome of just moving the controller while standing still, consistiantly gets the highest on average scores. (she somehow plays better when drunk? no one can explain it.)
Mylo only gets the highest score on a few songs. It's the miku songs. No one knows how he does it. Power of miku i guess? no one is beating him on those songs. they just have to play for second place.
Both Renn and Jace are super competitive about it. Renn tries to pretend he's above such mundane things as Space Just Dance but the very second Jace insinuates it's because "he's a shit dancer, of course he doesn't want to play, he'll lose!" It's fucking on. They absolutly attempt to subtly sabotoge eachother, which usually leads to Qiri winning.
Qiri wins the most followed by Renn/Jace (who are usually neck-in-neck), then Mylo, then Varus.
