[I will use some of the original art for these Swords and Wizardry monsters again, I promise. But in this case, the art in Monstrosities doesn’t match the description at all. It’s described as being interwoven vines that drag themselves along on roots and strike with a big bludgeoning trunk, but the picture shows little more than the eyestalks (good, accurate) and a giant Audrey II-style mouth (not accurate, overdone on carnivorous plant monsters). Unlike most of these S&W monsters, where I add abilities, I removed one from the fal-yoth here. It seemed weird that they had both a fear gaze and a darkness ability, so I removed the gaze. It was too similar to the recent eye filcher, besides.]

Fal-yoth CR 12 CE Plant This massive plant appears to be multiple thorny vines woven together in a roughly octopus like shape. It drags itself with surprising speed with tendrils, and its upper body is fused together into a form of bludgeon. Eyes on thin stalks emerge and contract from its upper body.

The fal-yoth, or “hungering vine”, is a monstrous and intelligent carnivorous plant. They were first created through the actions of the cult of Shub Nugganoth, the Black Goat of the Woods, and exist as a testament to vegetal supremacy. They consider animal life fit only to devour, and woods hunted by a fal-yoth soon are depopulated of animals and overrun with monstrous plants. A fal-yoth enjoys being worshipped and supplicated, with sacrifices of flesh above all else, and may suffer a community to exist near its hunting ground if they show proper deference.

In combat, a fal-yoth uses its entwined vines as a huge mace, flattening the opposition and knocking them backwards. Although slashing weapons are best able to cut through their thick exteriors, their bodies flow with a sap that corrodes metal—even adamantine weapons can be slowly eaten away by this caustic fluid. Once they have suitably tested their opponents, a fal-yoth will grab a choice morsel with their tentacles and pull them into its interior to be torn apart by a gaping, thorny maw. When feeding in this way, they typically shroud themselves with magical darkness in order to avoid being interrupted.

A fal-yoth is about thirty feet high. They collect treasure, but never metallic objects—fal-yoths despise metalworking and go out of their way to destroy beautiful things made of metal.

I feel bad and if they dont want me following them it’s fine, but . . . i guess, if i dont know what i did wrong i might alienate other folk.

I stay strong enough to not be too put off by it, not quite strong enough yet to correct people...especially while beardy. Goals! ^_^  Thankfully there were plenty folks present who called me she a lot too...an interesting table XD
