What I learned from drawing this window in Rowan’s nursery: our house has many layers of window frame before you get to the actual view. 🏡 . Some things in this picture: a string of little elephants from my sister in law; a lamp I’ve had since I was little that got all bent up in a move but that I haven’t been able to part with; a vintage chandelier crystal from our wedding (we decorated the trees with them); a stained glass panel of a bird made by my father in law; the ubiquitous iPhone; my favorite mug. . Dara is staying home from work today and so I have some time to sketch (and work!!). So my back door window provides me a view of the gas station/store across the street, the entry to the trailer park that separates the park from the house with a big yard and a black lab I adore. The neighbors in that house have fruit trees that fruited for the first time last year. The road that separates us from the gas station is a main road between my town and the nearest small town. Every time I pass this door and my front door my OCD kicks in. I have to look out and check the locks are still locked.
