I actually wrote an entire essay on exactly this lmao!! Let me go get it:

1. Kaito is sexist and misogynistic. As with mahiru who I also don’t like, this is characterized by all of his gender stereotypical comments throughout the game and insulting characters for being too girly and not acting like a man(case in point, saihara and gonta). Some people have said that his comments towards maki are mostly just him trying to humanize her rather than being maliciously sexist and I can respect that, but still, *none* of this is mentioned or called out by the other characters, which sends the message that kaito’s actions are ok when they are not.

2. Kaito is *extremely* insensitive to other people and their perspectives(ie he only considers what he would do or think in their situation). The BIGGEST example, of course, is hoshi. When hoshi talks about his depression, kaito decides to call him a coward for not having a will to live?? That is *not* a good method when you’re trying to help someone with a mental illness my guy, just saying(and in the jp version I heard it’s worse and he essentially calls him a sissy). Also, sometime during the 2nd trial he tells yumeno that if you get betrayed by your friends, it’s *your* fault and NOBODY HAS EVER TALKED ABOUT THIS?? There are definitely external factors that can mislead people into trusting the wrong people; manipulation, coercion, dependence, unstable mindsets, etc. all of these can result in betrayal and they are not the victim’s fault wtf.

3. That one line in chapter 3 where kaito calls shinguuji girly, except in jp ver he calls him an “okama” which is a slur that is both homophobic and transphobic. If this were any other character I would’ve let it slide as the writers being ignorant and offensive but kaito has done so much shit already I might as well add it here.

4. 4th trial where kaito accuses saihara of siding with ouma and they have a FIGHT OVER A TRIAL THAT SAIHARA WAS CLEARLY RIGHT IN. I am so pissed that kaito had the audacity to feel betrayed by saihara “siding” with the “bad guy” when it’s been established(partly by YOU no less) that saihara will fight for the truth no matter how bad it is. You can’t just take backsies over something YOU encouraged him to do just bc it doesn’t fit with your view of reality. Although, this does get addressed later on in the story so its just something I got really pissed at when I first saw it(also him claiming that gonta was innocent(and earlier in ch 2 maki) just bc of his belief or whatever is also a flaw but not one I wanna pull my hair out over, just kinda lame cause nanami does a way better job of the belief vs doubt theme in sdr2)

sonic 06 au where silver actually kills sonic according to mephiles’ plan but he’s able to go back in time and tries to atone for his mistake except now he’s constantly plagued by the guilt of being a murderer and causing the apocalypse and the feeling he doesn’t belong anywhere. this also causes a tension in his relationship with sonic because he cant bear being friends with the person he’s literally killed once before.

This isn’t technically distracting me cause I’m writing a fanfiction about silver rn but yeah let’s go!!!!!

1) I really like the concept of multiple silver’s from different timelines. Like that may not be canon but it’d be so fun to explore. A character sees silver and greets him but he bristles and goes “who the fuck are you” before trying to murder them or smth. Or they talk about an inside joke with him and he has no clue what they’re talking about so they assume it’s just his naivety/forgetfulness.

2) Silver is not a scaredy cat. No way. Have you seen the shit he puts up with? 2 fire deities, 1 evil manipulating shadow deity, a sun god, /multiple/ apocalypses, there’s no way he hasn’t built up some resistance to that shit. He is not the one who is scared, he is the one who scares.

3) If we’re going with the(supposedly) canon idea that silver can witness several timelines/futures, I’ll reverse the multiverse theory on him. In each timeline he has witnessed, he has met the same people, but not /exactly/. He has parents in some of them, but they’re not exactly the same. Some of them don’t even share names with their selves from a past timeline. It’s very confusing to him so he ends up forgetting names sometimes. It also makes it hard for him to make friends in his time.

4) He’s a nerd jock. YOU CANT TELL ME HES NOT A NERD JOCK.

sorry i’m only now getting to this sjghshk i have a few i’ll share(including metal sonic)

jetilver:

1) they bond over their love of being in the air and freedom(although jet is lowkey jealous the hedgehog can fly but not him)

2) when silver starts getting too serious for his liking jet drags him into a race with him bc silver’s surprisingly competitive and its enough to get his mind off things for awhile

3) silver likes randomly surprising jet by popping up out of nowhere while he’s riding. it’s also an excuse to catch jet when he inevitably falls off his board lmao

jetadow:

1) jet is intimidated by him at first but finds him really cool. shadow is impressed at his riding ability.

2) they bond over the fact that both of them never really got to know their parents(or never having them at all in shadow’s case) although they both have strong sister figures to make up for it

jetal(??):

1) metal actually secretly likes riding after his stunt in free riders. jet finds him practicing and they begin meeting each other regularly for races.

aw hell yeah let’s do this!!! *cracks knuckles*

1) jet and his crew grew up in poverty. they consider each other siblings despite not being related and one day they find out they’re descendants of the babylonians so they decide to become thieves and steal not only treasures but from the rich so they can redistribute wealth to the poor(robin hood with a beak lmao).

2) jet tends to get super absorbed into racing, especially when he’s anxious or upset about something because its the only way he knows to vent out his frustrations. jet sometimes feels like the only thing he’s good for is racing and that pushes him deeper down the rabbit hole. yes this is me self projecting.

3) jet absolutely 100% has a crush on sonic canonically and you cannot tell me otherwise. hes the “scream at your crush” type and is constantly challenging sonic cause he wants to impress him and show off. when sonic realizes that this entire time jet was just trying to get closer to him he decides to show jet what actual friends do together(and makes a new friend out of jet lol)
