An excerpt from my roleplay with purrlings
(Kara was looking into a series of kidnappings when she met Valentina and, upon discovering her younger cousin had been one of the victims, they set out to track them down and bring him home. Kara is my character and Valentina is Purrlings'.)
The house's lights were on. A man leaned against the door, standing watch on the porch. Kara pulled her head back around the tree.
"There's only one man outside. We need to try to take him down as fast as we can so he doesn't warn anyone. Any ideas?"
In the darkness it was easy for Valentina to see the landscape . The hill was mostly barren, with a few bushes and trees around. It was not the most ideal place to be sneaking around but it would have to do. "We need to get him away from the house. Get him out here and them you can hit his noggin with your umm... fancy pantsy stick thingie" The word she was looking for was staff but all the words distracted her from the fluttering heart in her chest. She turned to back to Kara, her eyes very noticeably glowing in the dark. "Any ideas for a lure or distraction."
Kara lifted a rock up and tossed in the air.
"Well, one thing's always reliable." She smiled a bit nervously as she caught it.
"Yessss," she hissed, "Let's hit him with a rock. Wait no..you mean throw it. Okay that makes more sense."
Kara blinked, honest surprise in her eyes.
"...I was going to hit him with it."
"I'm so happy,' Valentina beamed. "Aim for his nose."
Kara slipped away from their hiding spot and into the bushes skirting up toward the house. The man yawned, his sword sheath clanking against the wooden door. He groaned and readjusted it before returning to his comfortable lean.
The moonlight casting just enough light for Kara to make out the shape of his head, she hurled the rock as hard as she could.
With a thunk, it collided with the side of his forehead, bouncing off into the grass.
Immediately followed by his now unconscious self.
Valentina threw her hands up in the air. "Yessss."
The cry was more of a whisper as she dashed from their hiding place to join Kara. "Good throw." She paused for a moment, and then very pointedly unsheathed his sword and tossed it into the bushes. In the dark it would not be easily found and they could avoid some sort of horror movie situation if he woke up soon. Things were going well! Kara was smart and experienced. The fear that had been so bitter on Valentina's tongue was gone. This was kind of fun...
