We’re PROUD of our Military Kids! April, Month of the Military Child (MOMC), is just around the corner. Join us in recognizing our military-connected children. These amazing kids are strong, brave, proud, global, and more! We celebrate their selflessness and sacrifice as they serve our country every day as part of a military family. Here are ways to help you and your community recognize the military kids! Purple Up Wear purple to celebrate military kids! Purple references the joint environment of the military, encompassing all service branches, Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard, and Veterans. Purple combines each branch’s colors into one: the Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard all use shades of blue, the Army uses green, and the Marines use red. ALA Unit 18 celebrates Purple Up this year on April 21st. Make sure to put on your ALA PURPLE UP SUNGLASSES! Call for the Arts The Military Child Education Coalition Call for the Arts program invites military-connected children from all over the world, representing every branch of service, to share interpretations of what it means to be a military-connected child through art. In honor of the #MonthoftheMilitaryChild we wore purple today for #PurpleUp Day at school! Ava even helped decorate the purple fence at her school. We are so grateful to live in a military proud community! The support the girls and I have here has been so wonderful from the military counselors at school to organizations like @bluestarfamilies and @theuso hosting spouse and family events and activites. My purple Deb's dress still fits 💪 Last Thursday Adapt House launched their #PurpleUp Campaign which runs from Dec 3rd-10th to raise awareness of domestic abuse 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 The aim is to let women know that Adapt is not only a women's refuge but a safe and confidential space for women who may find themselves in a physical,sexual or emotionally abusive relationship. Did you know? 1 in 4 women in Ireland who have been in a relationship have been abused by a current or former partner. Gardai have seen a 25% increase in domestic abuse calls this year due to the impact of covid-19 lockdown. @adapt_womensrefuge are working incredibly hard to reach all women in need but they need our help!
