oh anon this is so fun. so far all we know about punz's reason is that the egg would offer him power + he was bored (according to the wiki - and early lore is just generally lighthearted so you know ill trust that) right? i feel he joined the egg to get power and take advantage of the chaos it would cause, but as his friends/allies/whatever started being taken by it he found himself more alone like you said. honestly i dont think he had an Unhealthy attachment to dream but i do think that there was this kind of fondness that came through prolonged allyship that he was warring with when tommy gave him his payment - like, he obviously gives a shit about dream, otherwise he'd have taken it immediately. i feel like it was more of a slow slide - like everyone he'd been close to was either fucking evil or with the egg, so it would just make sense to go with them.
