Milky and the Punk - Part... 4?
Milky wandered around the library, doing her best not to look at the other two. She tried to seem deeply interested in the book titles without really reading them, letting her grey eyes sweep the shelves. She tried listening to the ongoing conversation behind her, but did not hear more than a few words. Something about Pinkie and that concert. As they stopped talking Spike nodded and thoughtfully scratched his chin for a moment. He then turned around towards Milky. "Hi Milky!" he said. "Hi Spike!" she said with a smile, and as she now looked straight at him instinctively added "Wow, you've grown!" He laughed slightly uncomfortably and made her realise she sounded like an old aunt. "Oh I- I'm sorry, Spike!" "Nah, don't worry!" he smiled "So how are you doing? You still hanging here on saturdays?" "Well I suppose I'm fine... No I mean, I /am/ fine. Everything's like normal. But I'm just here because..." She fell silent, wondering if she should tell Spike about the books. But he chuckled. "Because you lost some books?" "I- Yes." she said and blushed. "How did you...? Are they here?" "They are." Spike said with another reassuring smile. Milky sighed in relief. "Good. I was so worried... Please don't tell Twilight! I don't want her to think I'm careless when she's not around." "Don't worry, I won't. I've been where you are." "Thank you, Spike!" she said and could almost have hugged him, if it wasn't because she was so afraid of invading his personal space. Instead she said: "So, how is life in a castle? How's Twilight and how come I get to bump in to you here?" "Well, Twilight is freaking out every now and then as usual. She's still not used to the whole alicorn-ruler-thing. And though I love how big everything is, and fancy, she would probably rather move back in here. I guess it's almost a good thing she's rarely home but out saving equestria all the time." Spike looked down on his feet. Milky looked at him with concern. "Don't you go with her?" "Oh yes, yes, quite often!" he said tried to wave it away "It's just not like before, you know?" "I see..." Milky said slowly, not sure what to say next. She could say she understood, but she was afraid that would imply that she felt sorry for her self and she didn't want Spike to think that. Also, how sad wasn't it that it made such an impact on her that the librarian moved, especiallly when they were probably more on some kind of aquitance-level than actual friends. Her head spun further, as always when she got stuck in conversation. She had to change the subject. "So, um... That guy?" she said and nodded discetely towards the stallion. "Oh yeah, he's the one who handed in the books." "Ah... I... Suppose that was nice of him." Milky said, suddenly not as sure she could think he was a complete asshat either. She still wished he would leave so she didn't have to think of him at all. "Yeah, he seems pretty nice over all. It is weird really that Pinkie won't talk to him." "Pinkie?" Milky asked in surprise. That pony spoke to everyone, even Milky. "Mhm, he told me he's her brother!" Spike said with his arms in the air, implying this blew his mind. Milky was less mindblown. Pinkie spoke a lot /to/ everypony, not always with anypony. Milky had no illusions the pink pony actually liked her so she had never put any energy in to answering more than neccesary, thus she knew only what exactly all of Ponyville knew. Yet she made an halfassed atempt to sound surprised. "Oh...? Pinkie... Has a brother?" "Aha! I mean we knew she had sisters and that they lived on that rock farm and yada, yada... But not a brother!" Spike seemed both excited and concerned at the same time. Milky was just confused. This was not as obvious to her as it was to him. "So... Uh..." Milky was lost again. Luckily Spike carried on. "I would guess it is because he left them tho'. Promised to come back home and still hasn't... You know how Pinkie gets when someone breaks a promise." "Mhm" Milky said. She had no clue.
