#pumpkin point

“On Halloween night, the Great Pumpkin rises out of his pumpkin patch and flies through the air with his bag of toys for all the children...” (Linus, “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown”)  Pumpkin Point, on Governors Island, reminded me of the classic Halloween special:)  Unfortunately for Linus, the Great Pumpkin never arrives.  But Charlie Brown does not fare any better.  While other children get candy, “I got a rock” describes his Trick-or-Treating experience.  A real-world quote, about the unfairness of life, comes to mind: “I might have had a tough break, but I have an awful lot to live for.” (Lou Gehrig)  (Photo taken on October 20, 2019)

This picture was taken at Pumpkin Point, on Governors Island.  A funny bit of “Happy Days” dialogue makes me smile like that:)  A Halloween party was to be held in an old house.  Fonzie offered his advice to Richie, who was afraid that the house could be haunted.  Fonzie: “You got nothing to fear but fear itself.”  Richie: “Didn’t somebody else say that?”  Fonzie: “Well, if they did, they got it from the Fonz!”  (Photo taken on October 20, 2019)

“Oh no, must be the season of the witch...” (Donovan, “Season Of The Witch”)  There is nothing to dread about this photo.  The only bad thing is that the public season of Governors Island will end on October 31.  Pumpkin Point is family friendly, just like Disney’s “Halloweentown” series of movies.  Debbie Reynolds (of “Singin’ In The Rain”) portrayed a good witch:)  (Photo taken on October 20, 2019)
