El pudu (pudu puda), cuyo nombre deriva del mapudungun es el segundo venado más pequeño del mundo y a pesar de que sea más común en la isla de Chiloé también se encuentra en los valles de Cochamó y Puelo. 🌿 Su hábitat preferido consiste en áreas donde abunda el avellano (Gevuina avellana), chilco (Fuchsia magellanica), luma (Amomyrtus luma), maqui (Aristotelia chilensis) y tiaca (Caldcluviapaniculata), ya que son parte importante de su dieta. 🌌 Muy activos durante el día y la noche siendo muy juguetones, saltan, corren y se persiguen unos con otros. Pueden pararse en sus 2 patas traseras para alcanzar ramas altas o incluso trepar árboles para buscar alimento. ⚠️ Desgraciadamente su número ha declinado abruptamente en la Patagonia, su distribución principal, debido al impacto humano que trae consigo la deforestación, fragmentación del hábitat y las especies invasoras.
