I am currently working on a project to raise community awareness about the need for organ donations and the lack of donors in state registries. This is a topic that I feel strongly about because my sister and my mother have both needed a donation to aid in surgeries they’ve had, and a teacher at my school has a son diagnosed with cystic fibrosis who has been waiting for a new pair of lungs. It is unfortunate that the waiting list for an organ is growing at a rapid rate (someone is added every 10 minutes) and that the number of organ donors is declining and cannot keep up with the demand. Around 21 people die each day waiting for an organ and this is a number that I want to see change.

Coming from a small town in Wisconsin is hindering my ability to make as big a difference as I want to so I’ve realized that I need to push farther. This is where you guys come in. Tumblr is an incredible resource that gives anyone the ability to make a huge impact!

If you are interested in helping us out, the project is called Pledge to Save a Life and our website adress is: pledgeTSAL.wix.com/organdonation. The big thing on the site is the “Take the pledge” page where you will be added to a list of people who support organ donation. If you already are a donor we would like people to take the pledge anyways because it will help us boost awareness. If you are not already an organ donor, there is also a page where you can register with your drivers license or a state ID to become a donor.
