ptonkin One thing I’ll never understand (and this isn’t me...
Also maybe this is because I’m biased toward Hayley but like why wasn’t she named Labonair? Hayley’s name came from a family that abandoned her and Klaus’ so called name came from a man that beat him so why would they give their kid either?

I so wish I could find my posts raging at this shit from season 3 all those years ago, though I was more concerned with ‘lol Rebekah MIKAELSON u mean Estherdottir but ok” still pisses me off
I mean, I think Hope did go by Hope Marshall and you’re more of a Hayley epert than me, but I’m not sure whether Hayley would identify more with Marshall or Labonair.
Yeah, I get the whole family unity thing with “the Mikaelson’s” but that’s not how people in Iceland use surnames these days. I’m only going with Iceland here because from what I’ve found, they’ve tried to keep their viking heritage more intact by having a significant portion of the population that still worships the gods in the Norse pantheons and they still follow the “father’s name + son/dóttir” formula for naming their children. Plus modern Icelandic is supposed to be very similar to the old Norse that was used in the old epics.
It would have been Rebekah Mikaeldóttir though, but I see what you mean and I appreciate the rage.
