Ballister is the better fighter, he was top of his whole class and even most of the class above them
The guy is built like a whole brick
Pepole underestimate Bal CONSTANTLLY due to his shy, reserved nature and sad, wet, eyes and then he proceeds to absolutely wreck anyone's shit who trys

Todd is actually Bi
He's never told a soul
He had a secret crush on Ambrosius for years when they were young
Most everyone was prejudices against Bal but Todd had always been abnormally cruel, bc of the crush
He has A LOT of internal homopobia
Ambrosius or Nimona never forgave Todd after everything he put Ballister through over the years.
Ballister eventually became more or less neutral to the man.
But only after he got one really good punch in right after everything went down
Todd got something of a character arc after the events of the movie. it still doesn't excuse the years abuse and bullying he put them through.
Nimona insists on calling Todd by his full name Thoddeus, they just think it sounds stupid!

They were BOTH planning on proposing shortly after the knighing ceremony.
Ballister made their rings out of the first real set armor of they ever got. So Ambrosius's was black steel with a ruby, and Ballister's was gold with a sapphire. So they'd be wearing each other's armor and color palettes.
Ambrosius commissioned a small business owner for a incredibly elaborate and Intricate set. With The exact same color scheme.
Unfortunately right after Bal went on the run a lot of their classmates ransacked his apartment, so now there's little to nothing left.
It was only two days after the queen died when Ambrosius heard rumors of the other knights plan to take any valuables, and hunt for any more incriminating evidence against Bal.
Ambrosius knew they planned on breaking in towards the end of the day, so he went early morning and grabbed everything he knew was precious to Ballister.
Ambrosius didn't even realize he was doing it until he had already climbed in through the windows like he had hundreds of times before.
He didn't know why he was trying to save Ballister's things, he didn't know why, he didn't know why he'd want to protect a Traitors belongings.
He had been numb for days, he hardly even registered that he was thoroughly combing through his traitorous, possibly dead, ex BF's apartment
His classmates would call him foolish, the media would say he's gone off the deep end, the director would kick him out.
Ambrosius went through all of Ballister's favorite hiding spots without much thought. Ballister kept his best pair of shoes in the back of his closet, the gadgets he wasn't supposed to tinkering with was in a box under the bed, the rice cooker they weren't allowed to have was on top of the cabinet...
Ambrosius disassociated until he came to Ballister's desk, one of the drawers had a false bottom. Its Where he always kept his valuables.
He found the rings. It finally woke him up. He realized what he was doing, what he'd done.
If the director wasn't playing the devil on his shoulders, he probably would've abandoned everything to go find Bal right then and there.
It's what made him decide to lead the Manhunt
Ambrosius's regrets a lot of things. But not questioning the director sooner is one of his biggest.
He almost got caught by one of Bal's Neighbors, but he left the way he came. With only a armful of Ballister's favorite clothes, the box of gadgets, a handful of trinkets he'd collected over the years, and the rings.

For their first date Bal took Ambrosius to his favorite Bar
Ambrosius thought he knew his city well, but he was hardly let past the middle class part of the city. and the bar was almost in the slums.
He was an extremely sheltered child for all his life, so at first the was extremely freaked out, but it grew on him.
Now he's a regular at a tiny Cafe. In one of the poorest sections of the city. The owners tease him about being the fanciest thing the shop has ever seen.
Ambrosius tips REALLY well.

Bal had heard every swearword by the time he was 9 and has had the mouth of a sailor sense he was little
He kicked the habit pretty quick when he joined the institute and knows it has a time and place, and is excellent at remaining professional.
But when it's safe? You can't get him to stop.
He and Nimona cuss at inanimate objects.
And they get creative with it also!
One day he told a toaster to "take the damn bread and stop being a fucking bitch."
Nimona's best one is when they told a pole (that they had just flown into) "dickfuck! Get outta the damn way shitbrain"
Bal tends to casualty throw swear words into his sentences to make em spicy. Nimona just hits it outta the park with stuff like shitcock and fuckballs
It gave poor sheltered rich kid Ambrosius a heart attack.
