Psy Breakdown/Invisible Reality Show Promo - ep.2
This is one of the mixes I had originally planned to be my first on-air episode. This was definitely the best episode so far, almost everything was seamless. I really wanted to go to that Invisible Reality show, but the promoters never ended up contacting us. Oh well. Maybe next time. 1. The Professor - GastraxX (Remix) - I wanted this to be the first song I ever played on air, but it didn’t happen. After playing this on air, I feel like my show’s actually started now, and I can start playing way better material. I was just warming up before. As for this song, I kind of cheated, because it’s a remix, but it’s just so good. I like GastraxX a lot because it sounds like his music doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s all really well put together, really experimental, and really fun. He samples Futurama on a regular basis, too, which is really neat. Talk Spot: Bed Music: Trio Space Break Zone - Master Minded -Wearing headphones makes a world of difference when bed music is involved, oh god. I don’t know why I decided to say that psycore had more hats. I sound so stupid. I am so sorry about that gross sniffle. Eww 2. Offbeat is Dead - Mandragora - This was supposed to be the song Examples (also by Mandragora). I knew the file wasn’t working, so I re-downloaded it to make sure it was working, and I couldn’t find my re-downloaded copy. I picked this at the last second hoping that it would transition just as well in to the next song. I think it worked better than the song I had originally chosen. Since I’m pretty new to the whole DJ-ing thing, I had to practice the transitions in this segment quite a bit, and gaffed so bad. 3. Indoor Velocity - Psydrop -It turns out that when this used to be an abandoned music blog, I already talked about this song! The post is here. 4. Human Activity - Zentrix - In the recesses of my fondest memories, and on an intersection across from a McDonalds in St. Michel; there’s a small bar affectionaltely dubbed “iberville” by the montreal psytrance community. My first real rave was here, and the first time I heard this song was also here. I remember just stomping the floor and beaming because that rhythm was so good. Zentrix is an amazing producer and a great live DJ. Maybe in the future I should ask him to guest mix this show... Talk Spot: 5. Alice Dream (2012 Remake) - Invisible Reality - Fuck yeah Resident Evil! I actually don’t know anything about gaming, but I’ve seen the movies and they were pretty good. I was just looking for music on youtube when I stumbled upon this track. This is off of the Doors of Soul E.P that was released in 2012. The Original Alice Dream was released in 2009 on the Spiritual Ritual E.P, making it one of their oldest releases. 6. Palpable Thoughts - Spacey Koala - I was actually supposed to play this before the Invisible Reality tracks, but as I was doing my talk spot, I realized that it wasn't on the USB I use with the DJ computer. I would have been so screwed if I didn't have my computer with me. The Switch Up: 7. Intelligent Life - Invisible Reality Remix (Yahel) - I also found this song the morning of the show. When I type in “___ remix” I expect to have do some digging before finding anything this good, but hey, I’m not complaining. That bounce at 4:30 is te kind of thing that makes a track an instant like. The first song I heard from Invisible Reality was the remake of Alice Dream, and whenever I hear new music that’s really good, I’m afraid to look up the artist in case the rest of their material is sub-par. Clearly I had nothing to fear.
Good Morning! This is a track that comes of the album Fantasy Seeds, which was released in 2003. When I started exploring psytrance, this is one of the first tracks I really loved. I'm kind of obsessed with the movie 'Signs' and was so happy to hear a sample from this movie used in a song. Psydrop is intense and always seems to maintain a story-like quality to his tracks, entrancing the listener from start to finish.
