Confession

A collection of eight confessions, hand written and court transcripts, of convicted criminals. It is then reduced to only those sentences were the criminal is talking about his or hers own emotions. The perpetrators personal landscape of guilt is revealed with no descriptions about the actual criminal act. The most extreme act of violence contains something that we can all recognize in ourselves; the inner psychological patterns of reasoning and justification, remorse and/or the lack of it.

I was just thinking this morning as I rode my bus to work. Pop Stars, especially those who are discovered and produced by giant record companies or music studios. They seem to be introduced to the mainstream public as sweet and innocent (sometimes teenage) singers. Their songs are happy and has a lot of feel good in them.

Then after one or two albums they seem to enter a phase where they are or have been hurt by someone and sing about their broken hearts, breakups and bastard ex-spouses and how sad and hurtful things are at the moment.

Following that they seem to enter some kind of vengeful/psychotic stage where their music is tough and provocative or simply (sometimes pleasantly) disturbed.

It's like they are all following some kind of recipe of so called stardom.

Then given some time, what seems to remain after these initial phases, is the artist, out-crystallized from all the crap that was, hopefully after surviving their fans, the media and press, the pressure from their record companies and not least of all themselves.
