Connection details: Penny and this person met while she was getting her PhD at Yale—as long as he was in the same general location, he doesn't have to have been studying there too (although he totally can have been!). They fell for one another quickly, with him proposing before the end of Penny's first year, then got married soon after. Being young and in love, everything was perfect at first, but cracks started to show as they grew together, realising they were kind of growing apart. He would like children, but Penny can think of nothing she wants less, so this is a source of contention for them. They certainly don't have to be on bad terms at all, they're just not really in love anymore like they used to be, but they're trying to put on a facade as Penny is a perfectionist and the idea of divorcing in her early thirties doesn't fit her "perfect image", and he has his own reasons (which are completely UTP) too. Whether they've actually admitted to one another they've fallen out of love yet is something we can discuss, but they (or at least Penny) have been feeling that way for a while now.

They ended on good terms, but Stacey was slightly embarrassed and has been avoiding them. But now they are back, either ready for the new year at PSU as a student or professor or just back in the area and Stacey bumped into them and freaked out and now its awkward.

They've always been super close, and the night of Liv's high school graduation party they were the friend that heard her screaming for help and rushed outside to do so. They saved Liv's life that night, their quick thinking and relative level-headiness the only reason she's still here. They've seen her at her worst and at her best and vice versa. Potential romantic angle to play out, but Liv is a lesbian so if that's the case the friend would have to be female, but it's not a mandatory part of the connection!!

Connection details: Liv had been out of the dating game for 12 years after her attack, acutely aware of how the long scars on her chest and stomach look. However, after some gentle encouragement from her friends, Liv is now ready to dip her toe back into the dating pool. She's very nervous, as despite not being a virgin, 12 years is a long time to not have been in the game. She would meet this person either on a dating app or at a bar, and while there is a spark and a good amount of sexual chemistry, there's not a lot else. Liv is okay with this, she's not looking to find the love of her life right out of the gate, and they begin a very casual hookup relationship, helping love learn to feel attractive again.
