Alvaro Caviedes and Miguel Andres Figliozzi of Portland Stateâs Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering co-wrote a paper titled, âModeling the impact of traffic conditions and bicycle facilities on cyclistsâ on-road stress levelsâ, published by Transportation Research in October 2018.
Farshad Madani, Tugrul Daim and Martin Zwick of Portland Stateâs Engineering Department co-wrote a paper titled, âKeyword-based patent citation prediction via information theoryâ, published by Journal of General Systems in November 2018.
Sirisha Kothuri, civil and environmental engineering faculty member and TREC researcher, co-authored âAnnual Average Nonmotorized Traffic Estimates from Manual Counts: Quantifying Error,â published in the August 2018 issue of Transportation Research Record Journal of the Transportation Research Board. The paper presents methods and results of analyses of bicycle and pedestrian estimation counts and estimation error rates.
Miguel Figliozzi, civil and environmental engineering faculty, and student Nicholas Stoll co-authored âA Study of Bus High-Resolution GPS Speed Data Accuracy,â published in the August 2018 issue of Transportation Research Record. The research presented in the article compares bus speeds with general traffic speeds at specific locations between stops, concluding that high-frequency GPS data for buses is suitable transit performance for passengers and transit vehicles.
