YOU CAN DO THIS.  This instructable was written up by Jesse, one of the coolest folks at my local hackerspace, and it provides clear, visual help as well as very flexible instructions for both hand and machine knitting a board.  

Definitely go look if only for the great videos and images, and let your brain go wild with possibilities.

Non-male-identifying folks in Chicago: ever want to get into electronics but feel a little intimidated or uncomfortable in the classes?  

The hackerspace I belong to is doing some introduction to electronics classes specifically for female/non-binary/genderqueer/agender/etc folks.

Jesse (the instructor) is a brilliant, super-engaging lady with a ton of experience -- especially in knitting and sewing circuits for clothing and such -- and I can't recommend her more highly.  She's a professor, artist, maker, hacker, and all around good egg.

Halloween wing project for a friend's kiddo for a Rainbow Dash costume.  He was apparently too excited to let her tighten the straps properly, hee.

Vectoring/designed by Samhainpress, manufacture and assembly done by me.

Test was done in corrugated cardboard, main wings done in acrylic with a wooden back.
