Homecoming 60 Tahun Antropologi Universitas Indonesia, 16 September 2017 ⢠⢠⢠After over a decade-long hiatus from performing on stage, it was all because of my beloved almamater that I picked up my violin and started practicing. I had enormous stage fright due to the fact that I was also playing in front of deans and lecturers. Luckily, I was in the presence of a senior "kerabat" ("relative"; how we address fellow anthropology alumni), Mbak Betty Sitorus, who lead the auditorium in singing Indonesia Raya and Indonesia Pusaka with her astounding voice. It became an emotional experience for me on that stage; remembering that it was my late grandfather himself who chose anthropology to be my major, some 11 years ago. it was also he who introduced me to the world of strings. while being serenanded by Mbak Betty's beautiful voice and the whole auditorium, it was also a spine tingling moment knowing that there was an image of The Father of Indonesian Antrhopology, Kanjeng Pangeran Haryo Prof. Dr. Koentjaraningrat watching over a room full of his "kerabat" that day. ⢠⢠⢠@univ_indonesia #homecoming #anthropology #universitasindonesia #ui #FISIPUI #FIBUI #PSJUI #violin #singer #music #performance #nostalgia #reunion #60years (at Pusat Studi Jepang UI)
