I morti, invece, non solo solamente i morti – come quello disteso sul tavolo – ma tutti quei vivi a cui sia stato asportato il presente e il futuro. La signora del dolore tiene prigioniero questo tempo sottratto ed è nostro scopo precipuo scoprire il luogo di questa detenzione. Noi, dunque, ci rivolgiamo ai morti. Se non altro, a coloro che possono ancora essere salvati.

It is said that the direct experience of war produces only two categories of men: the suffering and the dead. Of the former, we possess an immense sample, and they are not the subject of this lecture.
The dead, however, are not only the dead—such as the one lying on the table—but all those living beings from whom the present and the future have been excised. The Lady of Pain holds this stolen time captive, and it is our primary aim to discover the place of this detention.
Thus, we turn to the dead. If nothing else, to those who may still be saved.
