"I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning." -Psalm 59:16 Songs are sung in the morning because you weren't sure you were going to make it through the night. There is nothing sweeter than seeing the dawn breaking a night sky that had been filled with dread & terror. When we see a sunrise and realize that God has protected us through the night, it is natural and right to respond in praise. When God brings His omnipotent strength and unfailing arm to our cause, we are filled with an overwhelming sense of wonder and awe. We feel loved and cared for. We feel safe. These feelings well up in us and erupt into songs of praise. With loud voices and tears in our eyes we adore the God who is "our fortress and ... refuge." This is the nearest we will come to the way we will worship at the end of all things when the long night of our broken world is rocked by the dawning of His Son's perfect eternal Kingdom.
