Why tell my story...
As I sit here and begin this journey through my life, I find myself wondering if anyone will read the story of someone who is seemingly so unimportant in the eyes of the world.  I am not a brilliant scientist who has the cure for cancer at her finger tips nor am I a talented artist who can share their inner beauty with the world.  In short, I am incredibly unremarkable...except for one thing... I once was lost, but now, I am found.  I was blind but now I see. The only story I have to tell is one of redemption and restoration. On any given day, the inside of my head is a scary place to be.  I have a very vivid imagination that can dream up catastrophes and victories at the drop of a hat.  In the last few months one scene in particular continues to appear in my thoughts.  In sepia tones, I see Jesus as he travels along a dusty path occasionally stopping and bending over to pick something up from among the rocks and weeds.  He examines the treasure in his hand as he dusts off the debris coating it. Finally, he lovingly places it in a canvas bag attached to his waist by a frayed hemp rope.  He walks on for what seems like miles before the image transfers to a dim shack that smells of sawdust and holds only a simple table with some tools for wood working scattered about.  Jesus removes the contents of the sack and gently places them on the table where he begins to piece them together.  Slowly they start to take shape and I begin to recognize that the image they are creating is familiar in some ways and yet completely foreign in others.  When all of the pieces have been put in their proper place, he smiles as he slowly turns the image.  When it is fully facing me, I see it.  It's me, or at least a version of me. Somehow it looks different but also exactly the same.  I want so bad to ask him a question but before I have a chance the image dies away and I am left with a quiet peace. I have spent time thinking about that image and as the idea for this blog came to my mind, I believe I understand what I have been seeing.  The world we live in is hard and often times cold and cruel.  God has given me the gift of this internal slide show so that I can see how even on the hardest days, he is there collecting the pieces of me that the world continuously chips away.  The image I see is both familiar and foreign because every time he reassembles the collected pieces from his weathered bag, he leaves out the ones that don't fit just right.  I absolutely believe I am a child of God, created in his image, but I also believe I will battle the desires of the flesh as long as I live in this world.  I will continue to make choices and mistakes that will taint the image of God I am meant to reflect.  Itâs like barnacles on a boat hull.  Just because they attach themselves to the hull, it doesn't cease to be a boat.  It is just a boat weighed down by the things never meant to be part of it.  They slow the boat down and if left there, they will eventually destroy the boat.  That is what sin is in our lives.  We are made in the image of God but encumbered by the chains of sin.  Those "pieces that didn't fit" in my image are the things that are weighing me down and distorting the true image of God I am created in.  As Jesus refashions the pieces, they reveal the new me - transformed and shaped by grace. "Have mercy on me, O God according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions.  Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.  For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me.  Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight; so, you are right in your verdict and justified when you judge.  Surely, I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.  Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb; you taught me wisdom in that secret place.  Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.  Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice.  Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.  Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.  Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.  Then I will teach transgressors your ways, so that sinners will turn back to you.  Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, you who are God my Savior, and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.  Open my lips, Lord, and my mouth will declare your praise.  You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.  My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.â Psalm 51:1-17

Hey! I've been hearing a lot about bullet journals, but I don't get the point of them. How are they different than regular journals?

3, 4, 12, and 30
3: First book that had a major influence on youI started saying âyâallâ when I first read the Mandy books. That was.... probably 12-15 years ago
4: Quick, you're in desperate need of a fake name. What character name do you think of first?Violet Hayes, always
12: Tell one book story or memory (what you were wearing when you were reading something, someone saw you cry in public, you threw a book across the room and broke a window, etc.)Iâm not sure if this is what this means, but one time I lent my Hunger Games books to a friend. She let another friend borrow them, and I was literally having dreams that they were destroying them. The first friend returned them to me while we were at my best friendâs Disney Princess birthday party (her either fifteenth or seventeenth, I believe) and they were a freaking mess. My poor friend had to listen to me complain about it all night because I stayed over after the party. I told my dad about it and he bought me a brand new box set. Because my books donât get dirty, or written in, or ripped, or anything else.Â
30: One book everyone should readThe Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom. That book will change your life. That would be my answer to q3 if I hadnât read it just two years ago.Thank you!!!
What's your favorite fandom?
hmm Iâm gonna say LOTR, bc itâs cool in all the general aspects of âfandomâ.. the fanbase is pretty nice and thereâs not much discourse from what Iâve seen haha.. Iâd also say TOP but that fanbase can be crazy at times, all their content is 12/10 tho :DÂ
edit - oh and Cabin Pressure!! itâs the best and is a âpure cinnamon roll too good for this worldâ type of a thing.. everything about it is amazing!!
Thank you^^ Â
