powers :      nature manipulation, sensory manipulation, & clairvoyance 

limitations :      bindwood is weak to extreme temperatures, as the cold slows down biochemical/metabolic functions and extreme heat tends to increase likelihood of physical injury and tissue damage. he is highly susceptible to increased pollutants. continued exposure can increase his fatigue

ORIGIN AND NORMAL LIFE:

description on file :   nothing much is known about the origins of bindwood. some say they were an alien that came from another planet, while some say they just sprouted out of the earth like a plant. whatever it is, they are considered the most important member of the team. they are the mediator and communicator among the members, and they are often found in earnest conversation with people or their plants.     

behind the hero :   while his intention was purely to explore earth for the inquisition of knowledge, he grew to care deeply about these beings - even those that wish to inflict harm upon his friends and himself. over the course of his time on earth, jules has developed a humanoid appearance to assimilate and tries his due diligence to approach every matter with a deep sense of compassion. because of this, he engages with the world in a tactile sense and a cognitive approach. his use of language and cultural/societal engagement helps him navigate each situation as if it is the first and his last. jules is always on a quest to learn and grow, to be better, and to leave the planet in better hands than what he first received fifteen years ago. when he is not tending to fortitude hall, he often attends galas and seminars to share his research and to attain additional information that could help improve world health and abiding organizations. who would've thought the once arrogant extraterrestrial would've held a deep consideration for the inhabitants of earth and his fellow companions.

powers :   primary: geokinesis / secondary: gyrokinesis / tertiary: near invulnerability

limitations :   his near invulnerability comes from outside forces. however, if he were to push himself too far for too long, his powers would start to affect him internally leading to bones-breaking, organs rupturing, etc.

appearance :   describe their hero vibe :   bronze armor, more for iconography than functionality. it's moveable enough for hand-to-hand combat but that is a rarity. meant to invoke knights with modern twists, a nod to his history education.

ORIGIN AND NORMAL LIFE:

decription on file :   Agetor’s second in command. Just like Agetor, he was also experimented by the Mind Melder. Before this, he was simply living his life as a historian and traveler. Though he was not official member of the Protectors under Captain Fortitude, he was convinced by Agetor to join when he took his place. 

behind the hero :   Once he became headmaster alongside his friend, he considers himself an educator first, and hero second. He cares about the future generations and preparing them for the evils of the world. While he manages his trauma, he knows it's never gone. It's hard for him to rely on others to help him but it becomes easier every day.

powers :    primary:   reactive adaptation  /  secondary:   rapid cell regeneration  /  tertiary:   near invulnerability 

limitations :    limits:   since his adaptation is only for immediate threats or specific situation, any adaptation is only temporary and will wear off. he is also limited by his innate enhanced strength, meaning prolonged use of his powers can still affect him in the aftermath. 

appearance :    describe their hero vibe :   his costume is a sleek armored bodysuit, made both for movement and agility. usually he doesn’t need any weapons, but he would often bring a gun locked to his biometrics

decription on file :         he is the current leader of the protectors, and the headmaster of fortitude hall. a former member of the special forces, agetor was kidnapped by the mind melder to be experimented on, which caused him to develop his powers. not wanting it to be a curse and to use it for good instead, he asked captain fortitude if he can be a member of the team.

behind the hero :      outside of being a hero, he is janus anderson. despite the trauma he faced before, he tries to live his life as happy and normal as he can. it’s not as easy as one would think, he would say.

POWER LISTING:

powers :   eldritch magic / witchcraft / supernatural empathy

limitations :   while mistborn has always been inherently magically-inclined, the potency and effectiveness of his powers are limited by his focus and precise intentions. it isn’t completely necessary, but mistborn uses logomancy as a way to channel his magic ⎯⎯⎯ not only speaking to cast spells, but saying them backwards to really force him to concentrate and exact with the objective of the spell. lack of mental effort or clear purpose can cause his spells to be ineffective or have different results than intended. a master of eldritch magic, mistborn is also afflicted with a quenchless thirst for knowledge and stimulation, sometimes to the detriment of his own sanity after using such unnatural and perverse type of magic for so long.

appearance :   a showman at heart, mistborn’s hero costume looks like the typical garb of a stage magician, but magically modified. his tuxedo is enchanted to withstand great forces such as gunshots and other regular projectiles, while also impenetrable to simple weapons such as knives, daggers, and swords. his top hat has an extradimensional space within than can be used for storage, and mistborn also wears a cape that allows him levitate. to hide his identity during circumstances where civilians are present, mistborn wears an owl mask that hides his entire face.

description on file :   a member of the protectors and the head of mystic and supernatural department in fortitude hall, mistborn is famed and feared as one of the most powerful magic users in the mortal plane. his ever - present quest for knowledge and expertise in eldritch magic and witchcraft make him a great mentor to hone the talents of up - and - coming mystics and supernatural beings. however, mistborn is not without his own baggage ⎯⎯⎯ often dealing with the side - effects of using magic derived from other dimensions and realities.

behind the hero :   from vaudeville to the bright lights of las vegas, jericho zaun comes from a long line of stage magicians that dazzled their audience through sleight of hand and illusions. he started as stage hand for his father, developing his skills until he finally unlocked his own affinity for real magic and his father clued him in on the supernatural world. but their powers came with a price : the first of the zauns made a pact with an eldritch being almost a century ago, an abundance of power and wealth in exchange of feeding it with knowledge and stimulation through them. and now every time a zaun comes of age, they must carry out not only their predecessors’ legacy but also the pact of their lineage. and now, jericho spends his time away from heroism as a stage magician ⎯⎯⎯ feeding the eldritch god with stimulation through the limelight and the attention of his adoring patrons.

limitations :    psychological conditioning – residual programming from his time under the mind melder can be triggered by certain stimuli or phrases. / emotional suppression – years of behavioral control have left him emotionally stunted, struggling to fully connect with others. 

appearance :    crosshair’s gear blends stealth with efficiency — a high-mobility combat suit reminiscent of elite espionage units. the design is matte black with subtle gray accents, reinforced with kinetic-absorbent mesh and pressure-seamed armor panels for flexibility and speed. hidden holsters line his thighs, breasts, and ribs, each concealing custom pistols, daggers, and compact explosives. his gauntlets feature retractable shock batons and a data-spike interface for silent infiltration. when in the field, his eyes flicker faintly silver under targeting focus. a residual effect of his enhancements.

off duty, jonathan favors sleek, dark civilian wear: pressed shirts, gloves, and long coats that betray his military past. his movements are precise, his posture unbreakable. even in a room full of heroes, he still moves like a ghost trained never to be seen until it’s too late.

decription on file :    jonathan smith wasn’t born, he was designed. conceived within the mind melder’s laboratories as a controlled genetic experiment, his body was enhanced from the fetal stage for strength, reflex, agility, and precision. as a child, he was raised in isolation and trained through neural conditioning, martial programs, and pain reinforcement. by sixteen, he had become the mind melder’s perfect operative. a weapon of silence and certainty. he was one of the most skilled assassins and spies this planet has ever seen.

for years, he served as an assassin and infiltrator, eliminating targets across continents without hesitation or remorse. but during a failed extraction mission, he was intercepted by bindwood. a protector whose clairvoyance helped him see that jonathan wasn’t exactly dealt a fair hand and was simply doing literally the only thing he’s ever been taught to do. instead of executing him, bindwood brought jonathan into hiding, stripping away the programming layer by layer. it was a slow and brutal rebirth. learning not just to think, to hesitate, to feel for himself… but to not kill when someone was an inconvenience. and there were plenty of times that he struggled. and, honestly, he still struggles at times.

now known as crosshair, jonathan directs that same lethal focus toward teaching others restraint and control. as fortitude hall’s head of combat and defense, he trains students to survive. not as soldiers, but as protectors. attempting to train them almost in the exact opposite way than he was, although he struggles with being emotionally empathetic with the students. he carries the precision of a killer and the guilt of one, using both as tools to forge the next generation into something better. 

behind the hero :    jonathan lives with the discipline of a soldier and the silence of a ghost. his quarters are clean, his weapons always calibrated, his emotions compartmentalized. he spends hours on the training floor, personally instructing advanced combat courses and field operations. despite his composed exterior, flashes of his past still bleed through. memories of missions he can’t forget and orders he never chose.

he’s a man learning what it means to be human, one scar and one student at a time. crosshair is the embodiment of restraint and evolution. a living reminder that precision without conscience makes monsters, and that a monster can be made into a human when given a chance. he aims to ensure fortitude hall never breeds another weapon like him.
