August 25th 2025: ProStars

For a more totally random piece of nostalgia from my childhood TV watching, it’s a cel from the short, 13-epsiode-long DIC cartoon, ProStars. 

From Episode 2, Short John’s Revenge, here we have 90′s sport legends Michael Jordan, Bo Jackson and Wayne Gretzky scuba diving while Wayne activates his hockey stick super drill to create a hole into an underwater cave where an entire Caribbean island’s village was held captive by an evil, greedy pirate named Short John Sliver, who is voiced by Jim Cummings doing his best Pete Pete voice, and who has an army of robot sharks and an octopus at his disposal, which the ProStars easily destroy with their awesome athlete powers. Did I mention they toss the pirate captain around like a ball, ending with Michael Jordan leaping the height of an entire yacht to dunk the man into a net at the tallest part of the ship’s mast?

That alone is an amazing paragraph I just typed... And exactly why I wanted a ProStars cel.

Better than Space Jam. Fight me. XD
