“Um, yes.” Bucky hopped down from the rock only to be brought up short when Steve dropped to one knee. “Wha—?”

“This is aggressively heterosexual of me,” Steve muttered. “But uh. Hi.”

“Hi. Steve?”

“Look, I was gonna do a whole thing with champagne, but—”

“Are you…?”

“Yes.”

“Holy shit.”

“Buck…”

“No, I mean. Go on. Holy shit. Go the fuck on.”

Steve and Bucky are going to the chapel, and they’re gonna get married. Meanwhile, Peggy and Natasha...

Hi Nonnie! I’m assuming this is for Proprietary Information Bucky and Steve? Because that’s why most people are following me. So, uh, I have actually spent a ridiculous amount of time thinking about this because these dorks make me happy.

Weekday mornings, if Steve’s not traveling, he gets up pretty early, goes for a run and/or works out with his trainer, and makes smoothies. Bucky remains asleep, as he has deftly managed his schedule so he never has a class before eleven. Steve, ridiculous human being that he is, leaves Bucky’s smoothie in the fridge before going to wake Bucky up with a foot rub, because he’s THAT boyfriend. Bucky, of course, loves every second of it. Steve leaves, Bucky gets up and runs, does his morning stuff, heads off to class. Once he’s done with school, the routine probably changes a bit, but there’s always the…Steve Fixes Everything side of it.

Weekend mornings, I wrote a little bit of in the story - coffee and newspapers on the terrace if it’s nice, in bed if it’s not. And then Steve tries to work and Bucky gets annoyed and sometimes there’s a wee, fun, weekend squabble. The usual.

Nighttime varies depending on their schedule - sometimes Steve’s working late, sometimes Bucky has a late class. Various and sundry complications. They’re also pretty active as far as keeping the sex life healthy, so that plays a role. Their most boring night would be going to bed around ten, not fooling around, both of them with books before turning out the light and giving each other a smooch like Mike and Carol Brady. They have a weird, old marrieds, vanilla fetish for that kind of shit.

Aw, Nonnie, thank you! I’m having a weird night and this was a nice ask to get. I love those dinkos and I’m looking forward to writing more in their universe eventually.

Interestingly, I was talking this over with someone the other day, as the Bucky/Steve PI dynamic is one I’m always noodling with in my head. To be honest, I think that the underlying premise of most of the PI stories is that Bucky is ALWAYS taking care of Steve. Sure, Bucky has the more demonstrable issues (he’s drunk! He’s sick!) but he’s also the one who gets Steve to lighten up, to get out of his head, to get into therapy and to deal with some of his issues. But Steve is someone who is going to be a stubborn motherfucker about being taken care of in overt ways - he’s the type of person who’ll get sick and keep working 70 hour weeks, or who’ll break a rib and insist he’s just “winded.” For him, taking care of Bucky is, in its own way, letting Bucky take care of him - he’s happier when he believes he’s fixing problems and making the people he loves happier.

Words Written This Week: 18,813 (Fun fact about NaNoWriMo: it's actually pretty motivating to someone like me, who is spurred on by self-imposed deadlines and meeting some arbitrary competitive standard. Who knew? I actually wrote slightly more than that this week, but I'm only counting completed chapters in that count, as is my wont. Still, this is great! I'm not thrilled with a lot of what I wrote, but that's what rewrites are for.)

6,187 on merBucky, which puts me through Chapter 35. He’s chugging along! Montage chapter next, then we’re heading into the denouement, which I’m guessing at about 5 chapters, though I can’t be certain until I’m writing it.

9,896 on the Proprietary Information sequel, which now has a name! It’s called Mergers and Acquisitions and I have one chapter left to write before I can start editing and posting. I’m hoping to have it all up in December as sort of a Christmas present, even though the wedding itself has very little to do with Christmas. I discovered this week that there’s slightly more PeggyNat than BuckySteve in the sequel, which I need to remedy. Those funky little lesbians will get their own story eventually, but this one is, ya know. Bucky and Steve.

2,730 on the first of my Marvel Trumps Hate fills. The one I’ve started working on is my very first foray into Shrinkyclinks, featuring Millennial Steve and recently de-HYDRA’d Bucky. It’s...I’m a little in love with it already. I’m hopeful I can do it in less than my usual 80k insanity, but @albymangroves was enabling me last night so we’ll fucking see. :-\

Ohhhhhhh my goodness, thank you so much! That makes me very happy. Proprietary Information is, legit, the first longform fic I've ever finished. Back when I wrote fanfic in the before time, in the long long ago, I started a LOT of fics, but I never could figure out how to end them. So the fact that this one has been so well-received and works for people makes me all caps-lock squealy inside.

Hey, hello, and hi! I'm so glad you've enjoyed my stuff, and especially PI, where I've been living again for the past couple of months! The sequel is not a sequel in a traditional, "there's a brand new story here" sense, but more of a...hey, lots of people wanted to see these goobers get married, so I'm gonna marry 'em off and do some fun stuff with Peggy and Nat at the same time. So I don't want to give the impression that it's a full-story sequel, but it's about 30k, and seven chapters, the first of which will be going up a week from Sunday.
