Sam hadn’t realized it but a small smile formed along his lips as Haley spoke about her time learning all there was to know about Tree Hill. Though it didn’t seem like much, the small town was filled with historical events and it excited the Winchester. Unlike his father and brother, Sam was the only one in the family to enjoyed learning and wanting to expand in their knowledge. It was why Sam was the one who carried a laptop around with him on hunts; doing research was his specialty while Dean was the muscle of the family. And knowing that Haley was the same way only made Sam’s smile grow wider; it was nice being around another individual who enjoyed learning.
“Honestly,” Sam began, his smile slowly fading. “I’m not even sure how long I’m staying in Tree Hill,” he revealed. Staying in one place for so long without a case was foreign to Sam as it had been a very long time since he had settled. During his years in college it was different, it was his choice to uproot himself away from the life and enter himself to make a change in his life. Even when he was a child Sam wanted to distance himself from the life of a hunter, but the life caught on to him. “But, I guess in the duration of my time here I can make good memories,” Sam continued with a nod. “If you don’t mind, I’m going to run upstairs and take a quick shower since I’m pretty sure I stink from my run. I’ll be back down.”
Quickly, Sam ran up the stairs toward his ‘bedroom’ and locked himself within the attached bathroom. Looking at his reflection, Sam noticed the once tired look he sported the previous night had gone; maybe the couch was a good choice after all. Stripping off his clothes, the man jumped in the shower to quickly bathe, allowing him to spend the day learning all about the town he had stopped in. It was a change and a nice one. Any time the brothers had visited a town, they simply got down to business and moved along as the matter was finished.
Stepping out from the shower, Sam dried himself off with a towel but quickly realized he hadn’t brought in an extra pair of clothes to change into. Rolling his eyes at himself, Sam wrapped the towel around his torso and stepped out from the bathroom, into the bedroom. Quickly the man realized Haley was standing in the room. “Oh, I-I’m sorry I didn’t think you’d be in here,” Sam mumbled, embarrassed. As his cheeks became a slight shade of pink, the man awkwardly went to grab a pair of boxer briefs, pants and a shirt before closing himself into the bathroom.
Quickly the man changed and stepped out from the room to find Haley had left. “Well that was awkward,” he said to himself, making his way down the stairs.
She honestly dreaded coming face to face with Sam now after that. There was sure to be some sense of awkwardness between them after that. Hearing his footsteps coming down the stairs, she took a deep breath as she reached over to the counter, picking up her purse and keys. Seeing Sam, she gave him an apologetic look. “I’m so sorry about that. I just….I noticed you slept on the couch and I don’t remember telling you where the linens were and everything so I thought I could hurry up and make the bed before you finished. I’m so sorry I embarrassed you. Not that you have anything to be embarrassed about but still”. She rambled, something she did when awkward things like this had happened.
Haley simply nodded at his words, a small smile forming on her lips as she watched him make his way up the stairs, the sound of his heavy footsteps receding. The brunette found herself a little happy the hunter was going to stay in Tree Hill for a while before going on his way. After her attack the other night she wanted to know all she could and what she could do to make sure nothing like that ever happened again but she wasn’t going to dive right into the topic right now as it was still a touchy subject for her and she knew that Sam really didn’t want to talk about it considering what happened to his brother a few months back. She leaned against the counter looking around the familiar beach house. It had been a while since she had even stepped a foot into this place as Nathan usually kept this place up to date but now it was her job to and then it dawned on her. Her eyes moved to the couch, the throw pillows out of place giving her indication the male had opted to crash on the couch, it gave her some insight the bedroom wasn’t set up yet which was bad on her part.
Quickly the young mother made her way up the stairs and towards the linen closet and pulled out some fresh, clean bed sheets as well as a duvet and made her way towards the master bedroom where Sam was taking a shower inside the master bath. The brunette could easily get the bed done and finished before the hunter had finished his shower. She threw the pillows off the bed and quickly started making the bed, putting on the fitted sheet and making her way around the bed to put it on and then finish up with the sheet and topping it with the duvet. The brunette found herself not so lucky as she heard the bathroom door opening, the male stepping into the room from the bathroom. Her head quickly darting up in response as the pillows dropping from her hands, her pupils widening as they came face to face with the hunter. Her eyes couldn’t help but linger down for a split second before her cheeks turning shade of light pink..
“I was….” Haley leaned down picking up the pillows quickly, turning away to give the male some privacy. “I was just fixing the bed for you. I...I was trying to hurry up before you got….No. I am. I’m so sorry” she apologized. The brunette had never been more embarrassed in her life, she honestly couldn’t believe she had literally embarrassed the guy who had saved her the other night by catching him coming out of the shower, the look on his face said it all. Not like he had anything to be ashamed of, hunting and working out was paying off for him but still. Hearing the door close, she quickly set the pillows on the bed and made her way downstairs. Never feeling anymore embarrassed or more awkward.
