This book showed me what goes on behind the scenes of the work of type designers. I was able to see not only the process of their work, but also read about their ideas and views on creating various letterforms.

After talking to Rachel about my idea I have decided to abandon the idea of making a human-size doll with the screen inside as it is difficult for me to give it a meaning. This tutorial was extremely helpful as always, it is so good to say your ideas out loud and get advice from other people, therefore I have decided to go ahead with my initial idea to do something with mirrors and screens.

I have shown Sarah Howe work to Rachel and told her my idea of repetitive gestures, expressions, movements made in a Loop / GiF way and she thinks it will work. She also advised me to start playing with mirrors to see how it could work with a screen.

Also, we looked at this “new perception-altering exhibition “( that I had seen in 2017 at the Biennale In Venice !!!) called Space Shifters at the Hayward Gallery ( until January, I have missed it :( )

Here is the video of the exhibition. I like the play with mirrors and I am curious to see how it will work with projections or screens.

Also, great inspirations are Yayoi Kusama’s chamber rooms ( Infinity Mirrors )  that create the illusion of infinite space ( video below - taken from Youtube)

I remember seen her work a few years ago at Victoria Miro Gallery in Angel and when I got there from outside the room was very small but as soon as you get in, because of the play with a mirror it looks and feels infinite. 

I am very excited to play with mirrors and curios to see what will come out from it!

Thinking of doing installation with mirrors, GiF/ Loop videos of close up expressions, body gestures, movements of people, protests, current moments of history and people’s feelings towards today’s anxiety.  I was also thinking to include a mix of sounds of this protests and people talking and discussing these problems. The idea is to make the person that enters this ‘mirror room’ to feel overwhelmed by the mix of sound, projections and feel disorientated and confused by the mirrors.

So far I have only been looking at videos and exhibitions but I have not started playing with mirrors and videos and I have not been able to record anything yet as I am not sure how to make it work. I will have to do some more research, practice and ask someone who is been working with videos and mirror before.

Another inspiring exhibition in this stunning space at the Serpentine Gallery

MEANING of : On Venus - inhospitable planet ( compared to Earth )

The artist included various mediums to address the matter of his work ( videos of extreme animal cruelty on a big screen reflecting on the floor - in a space that looks like a factory )

Very powerful exhibition intended to make the viewer feeling uncomfortable in every way - from the yellow toxic lighting, the corrosive dripping water, disturbing animal torture’s videos and awkward to read fabricated news, I absolutely loved it and I am glad I went. What I loved the most is the floor of the entire gallery which is made of a mirror-like sticky material.

After going through some of the exhibitions I have been in the last year I realised how useful they have been. I always take photographs of things that interest me and they always come back to me! All these works are from different museums, locations, exhibitions and somehow they are all connected with technology, screens, anxiety, fear, anger, alienation...
