Final Project Video Ideas

1) A cinematic showing the different places of Flushing and New York City, showing different scenes like streets, parks, subway, buildings, etc.

2) A bored guy decides to go outside since it’s a beautiful day to explore a park that he’s never been before that has a nice pond and birds. He relaxes there, but then he needs to use the bathroom badly. He regrets not going before he left the house and he tries to go to the park bathroom, but he is locked. He has to endure the struggle and hold it in till he reaches his home.

Part 1

Bartolo is sitting in the sofa with a couple other dogs

-Bartolo: Ugh another boring day!  Can this dog life be any more depressing? We are stuck at home all day, chasing our tails and eating nasty beef jerkys, who likes these anyway (Grabs and throws away bag of treats)

-Bartolo: The taste like your piss, Tonio  (close up on dog tonio) And that’s about it (sighing)…., just waiting for el amo to get home all day (looking around) And is not like you guys ever have a good plan!

(close up on dog 2 barking)

-Bartolo: At least walking is fun? (looking at dog 2) Yeah of course that’s what you guys love to do! So you can go smell every neighbor dog’s butt! And there’s no interesting dogs to meet out there…..they are all the same! Just cranky old lap dogs with anger issues! No thank you, If its  about keeping us entertained I’m fine with just watching telenovelas….and about pooping and pissing, I don’t mind doing it at home….he always cleans it up anyways…

Key entering lock

-Bartolo: uh oh..! She is here!

Lucia door opens and closes, lucia walks in

-Lucia: Guys Im home! I have a surprise for you!

-Bartolo: What is it this time…? I hope you didn’t buy again those ridiculous dog socks….

Hilda the chihuahua walks in in slow motion, Bartolo stops talking and stares at her opening his mouth

-Bartolo: Mamasita….

-Lucia: Bartolo….this is Hilda….Hilda I would like to introduce you to bartolo. Hilda is my friends dog and since they are going on vacation, Hilda is going to be staying a couple days with us.

Lucia gets close to Hilda

-Lucia: Be careful with him….he might look like a dog….but he is more like a wolf!

Bartolo approaches Hilda

-Bartolo: Good evening senorita….pleasure to meet you my name is Bartolo but you can call me Bartolomeo…..I think is a name that just suits me you know? I’ve always been known to be a romantic…Especially when a meet a beautiful lady like you…

Close up on Hilda

-Bartolo: mmm…..chihuahua….love it….well welcome to our home…yeah don’t mind the other guys….you can just hang out with me…I’ll promise will have lots of fun….

Lucia yells from far

-Lucia: Bartolo! Is almost time to sleep and you have to take your bath!

-Bartolo: Not now Lucia…don’t you see I’m busy..?

Lucia comes out with a toy

-Lucia: Come on….you are going to miss an amazing time with your friend squeaky (squeaks toy)

-Bartolo: Not now Lucia please…

Lucia pulls out a sponge with a smile

-Lucia: I also got your favorite sponge…

Bartolo looks at Hilda

-Bartolo: It was a pleasure to meet you senorita…

Part 2

Bartolo is laying down in bed ready to sleep

-Bartolo: ahhh..finally in bed and resting my paws after a long day of doing nothing….eheheheh (puts on sleeping mask) ahhh but of course I will be thinking about my beautiful Hilda…aaaah I cannot wait to wake up tomorrow and see her….ahh Hilda, Hilda….

Bartolo falls asleep while a spanish tv show plays showing a couple having a romantic dinner.

Bartolo starts dreaming, Hilda and Bartolo walk up to a dinner table with 2 plates and a candle, they appear to be chatting and eating, Bartolo pulls out the roses offers them to Hilda and they both kiss. Back in reality, the tv starts showing a documentary where a fox is chasing a rabbit, Bartolo starts barking and moving his legs as if he was running in his sleep.

Part 3

Bartolo is putting some perfume in front of the mirror while singing, camera closes up on the perfume and it shows a label that says “Eau the Toilette, Wolf Lust”

-Bartolo: nothing like a sensual essence to spice things up….ehehehe checking breath (breaths into paws) ahh those breath bones really work wonderfully! Well is time Bartolo! This is the moment of truth….(looks at mirror and points at his own image) who is a handsome dog? You are!

Bartolo comes out of his room with roses.

-Bartolo: Good morning every….ahhhhh!

Hilda is laying down with another dog and both are showing affection to each other.

-Bartolo: mi corazon….is broken…in million pieces……

The film will be spoken in a mix of English and Greek subtitled in English.

Old lady (Persephone) talking at the beginning, reminiscing about her youth and the hardships she went through in the 1940s in Greece during WWII, it will be shown as her young self in full 40s attire, hair and makeup in her house in Greece. She then realized the dangers the war poses to her, her sister and father (also in full 40s attire) who she is surrounded by. After this, she proposes going to America, which is free of the immediate dangers of the war in Europe, which her traditional father forbids immediately, refusing to leave his country and culture behind. The sister implores her to stay and trust in the unity and integrity of the country and in the church that they are going to get through the war. They attend church together, the sister prays for the war to be over, the lady prays for them to go to America. 

Soon, one morning they are sharing breakfast together, her town gets attacked/bombed (indicated by a newspaper the father is reading in the morning), and so she stresses the fact that they might die soon if they don’t leave immediately.

The father refuses, getting aggressive/violent with her, which she reacts to it by leaving the house. Back at the sister’s house, at the verge of tears, she implores her to not leave, that she is going to a foreign, unknown place into a society where she doesn’t even know the language or customs and that now that she lost the support from her father, she might find herself in trouble. She disregards these comments and bids farewell to her sister, whom she never saw again.

We jump to her being in the ship to America (the New York ferry) and gazing upon the Statue of Liberty, Persephone explains how as she was looking at the statue she felt it was the beginning of a new life. Someone speaks to her in English to which she replies she does not understand and looking troubled. She disembarked and found a home with a fellow Greek immigrant friend. Persephone explains how she needed a job and so she went to a job agency to apply. We see her going into a room, sitting in a chair and a voice asking her about her experience, and reacting to her silence because she doesn’t understand, the voice proceeds to ask her in a rude manner if she knew English to which she responded only a little. We hear the voice laughing and reprimanding her. We then hear Persephone saying how they laughed at her and how she drove herself to learn English fluently so by the time she applied for a new job she’s be prepared, when she applied for a position as a flight attendant, she attended another interview in which a man asked her to lift her skirt up, and touched her inappropriately, to which she left immediately.

2. A person’s struggle with depression and anxiety from an early age and the way it affects life on a daily basis.

#1 - Losing contact with people over time, they tend to disappear and reappear after a while but the connection still remains the same.

PROJECT 3 PITCH IDEAS

1.   NYC subway dancer. I would like to show in my project what dancing on subways and other public platforms mean to this dancer. I would like to talk about the different struggles this person go through when dancing and also what have this person accomplished and what do they get out of dancing or a better term this dance community uses is “getting lite”

2.   Second idea is finding a story in Costa Rica. Im taking a trip to Costa Rica in two weeks and i would like learn their culture and find a story.

3.    Expressing dance in two different hispanic culture. Being a mixed breed with my parents coming from two different countries, my mother being from Puerto Rico and my father being from Dominican Republic. I would like to compare and contrast dances such as salsa and bachata.
