in daggerheart, an elf that lives in a particular type of environment or is affected by a particular type of magic can develop a mystic form that reflects those elements in them
so naturally, i had to pay @faeriecoffins money to design what a dusk elf — a name for an elf whose mystic form was influenced by barovia and especially the mists — would look like with this worldbuilding
