been redrawing the same peace yearly, in 2025 I dealt with burnout but I was able to finish it this year!
super proud of my progress, especially how much faster I am at the same skill level. :>
I think it’s fun to see how over time my style not only changed but has gotten closer to its roots as I draw what I enjoy :3c

Finally, a completed image! My first big drawing in years; I haven't drawn much since the beginning of college and am trying to change that. Here it is next to the original. This character and this world has changed so much since 2014, but his name is still Hanul.

Wow, I never realised that I’ve been in OP fandom this long. I obv took a break from it and returned to it recently.
I hope there are some improvements? I feel like I don’t progress as fast as I could.
Also I wouldn’t particularly say that I like sabo as a character. I like his character design but as a kid he was more likable. Now he’s basically a mix between Luffy and Ace. Koala is just my love <3

nobody asked for this but i went looking around and scrounged up some of my oldest doodles littered around to make this Old Cursed thing. 2006 to 2008 was An Arduous Trip l m ao
tho tbh by the time it gets to 2009 or 2010ish it’s not nearly so embarrassing to me lmao oh my old artwork summaries on dA are tough to get through jfjfie;a
so here’s some descriptions under the cut--
2006: The year I made my dA account and started actually putting fanart on the internet lmao Before this, I’d literally just kept it all to myself. Ballpoint and gel pens and colored pencils are the tools of the trade. Lined paper is a common sight for some reason, considering I wasn’t in school
2007: Started using ballpoint pens more than ever lmao But also transitioned to color ones instead of just black all the time. Also remember experimenting more with colored pencils. This is also when I got into Kingdom Hearts and started drawing dumb comics. Had also a brief period of time when I was interested in trying some digital art, but all I had then was paint lmao
The style is still very Jhonen Vasquez-y pfffft
2008: Not too much change. Still in to KH. Still using ballpoint pens and colored pencils. I did download GIMP at this point and tried it out to color a picture or two. Also drew a lot more OCs and ambitious cover-style pictures, laughs
I also did a ton of comics this year
2009: I bought my first handful of Copic markers this year. I also remember messing with the colorization and hues, etc. in GIMP after scanning in pictures. Still mainly using ballpoint pens for inking purposes
2010: At some point I dropped colored pencils entirely, either in 2009 or this year. Getting way more comfortable with markers and learning how to Use them, ha. Also started using colored ballpoint pens again when I was bored. I started college the previous year and was in art classes
2011: The Marker Renaissance i guess bc wowie. Still drawing a lot of comics, but they were usually colored very thoroughly with markers and then inked with ballpoint pens. Obviously they were also then more spaced out since they took more time to do lmao Still occasionally drawing OCs and original stories, but fanart is definitely more prominent thinking emoji
2012: Hetalia invades jfkfd;a Also remember buying a double-sided grey marker/pen and using that to ink just for the heck of it. I had both a Color and a Special Topics class this year, which resulted in a lot more marker practice
2013: Lots of schoolwork, often done in marker. Started to experiment a little with pen and ink and brush and ink because I was learning how to use them in art classes at the time. My marker coloring got pretty simple tho, with not much in the way of shading or color theory, if you will, ha
2015 vs. 2020
I certainly have older art than this, but I was terrible at dating things for a long time so I just chose one of my first digital pieces!
As a white creator, I don’t want to distract from the needs of anyone victimized by police brutality or racism right now, but I will readily admit that I am selfish in wanting to still post my art, unrelated as it is. So I’m attaching a link to a New York Times article containing a list of donation sites to help support Black Lives as well as protesters. This list may not be fully up to date and is certainly not comprehensive, so if you have more links, please reblog and add them. I’ll reblog them as well! If my art can service as a vehicle to get links into your hands and help into the hands of those in need right now, it’ll be the least I can do.
Now and forever, I will always stand for Black Lives. Black Lives Matter. End Police Brutality.
(P.S. I’m not going to tag this as BlackLivesMatter or any other related tags because there are more appropriate things that belong in those tags and I don’t want to distract from them.)
