Yuzuru Hanyu wearing a beautiful costume on his FP: Origin. I have to admit that the first time I saw Hanyu’s costume I was not impressed, in my opinion it resembled Shoma Uno’s winter costumes (1/2) from last season quite a bit. However, after looking at it closely, one can see that the details are very different. Designed by Satomi Ito, Hanyu’s outfit is set over black lace and has beautiful black and white feather details that give the costume an ethereal feel when he glides through the ice. I love the gold beading which enhances Yuzuru’s silhouette and give the outfit movement by itself. Also, my favorite part of this outfit, aside form the white feathers, are the colored beads. This beads are very subtle (sort of purple-ish), and are easier to see up close or with a particular type of lighting; however from afar they definitely complete this costume giving it more brightness and enhancing the other details. Overall, I find this costume magnificent. Probably, the similarity between Uno’s and Hanyu’s costume is more likely related to the fact that Satomi Ito designed the three costumes, but still when looking at them closely the details are nothing alike. Hopefully, we will be delighted one more time by Hanyu’s costume and performance during the World Championships in a couple of days.
