Program Prep
So today one of my classes was working on their lines for the Spring Program. This specific class will have some of it's members read "In Flander's Field" by Lt. Colonel John McCrae a Canadian Army Surgeon during World War I. We were discussing the poem and what it meant and what poppies are and why they are symbols of Veterans Day/Armistice Day.
A student mentioned to me that his Aunt sells poppies as a fundraiser. Not real poppies, paper ones. The Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and American Legion Organizations will sell little paper ones in November.
The poppies gave me an idea....the exhange is as follows:
Me: Hmmm....I wonder where your Aunt gets those poppies....
Student: I don't know for sure...I could ask her?!?
Me: Would you be willing!? It would be neat if we could get some to decorate a stage or something like that!
Student: I'll check for you, Miss. B
Me: Thanks, I appreciate it!
A different student pipes up all perky: You could check Flander's Fields...they probably have some there!
*Snort*
The whole class just busted out laughing....
I love hilarious kids.
