First Blockout:

I started to sculpt the base shape of the model using ZSpheares in Zbrush. Once I had the silhouette that I liked, I roughly sculpted the ribs, some muscles and the head.

However, even if I liked the posing of the character, I was not satisfied with the head. I believe it looked weird and too alien. So moving forward, I replaced the head with the one from the previous project and I sculpted it to match the design of the new character.

At this stage I also worked on the base shapes of the props: cupboard, staff, lantern and belt.

To add more story to the character and make it visually intriguing I also wanted to add chains around the cupboard. To learn how to do that, I looked on tutorials on how to make chains in Blender. After trying some different variation, I found a tutorial that would make the chain be procedural, which helped me tremendously when modeling it around the cupboard.

In the end, I managed to make the chains and I was pleased with the results.

I made the shape of the chain in order to have three points of intersection between them. I will further add the locks in those three points.

Trendboard - Pastel Explosion - Post COVID World

Collaboration is massively important in the fashion industry.  Fashion designers can collaborate with artists, tech companies, accessory brands, sports brands, musicians, films, etc., and reach a wider audience as well as broadening their skills. To me one of the most notable Art and Fashion Collaborations of all time would be the one that started it all, and my personal favourite- Elsa Schiaparelli X Salvador Dali.  These two collaborated many times during the 1930s and 40s, creating some amazing pieces and allowing each other respect and entry within their respective worlds.  Dali worked his way into Parisian high society and Schiaparelli gained respect of the major artists of the time, especially with so many of them hanging out in Paris. Collaborative efforts include the Skeleton dress, the Tear Dress, and my favourite, the Lobster dress, among many others.  In 2017, the Met held an exhibition of the amazing collaborative works of this dynamic duo. 

I was looking for a film I heard Tacita Dean made related to CY Twombly, I couldn't find it.

London South Bank University - South Bank Collective

The South Bank magazine is a zine produced by the Alumni team at London South Bank University and is published every six months.

As a producer and photographer for the South Bank Collective I often work with the London South Bank University (LSBU) Alumni relations team. This is a fantastic job for me, and I have built up a strong relationship with the people I work with. The brief involves visiting a number of LSBU’s Alumni and photographing them in their homes, at their work, OR the shoot may take place on the LSBU campus with sitters lined up every half an hour. I very much enjoy the challenge of this work. When visiting Alumni at their place of work, or at home, I am required to scout the location for the best light and the best composition very quickly. Although I usually know something of the person, it can be difficult to get an environmental aspect in to the portraits. This is especially true when photographing in the work place, as often you find yourself in a very bland boardroom. Sometimes you have to be a little demanding and ask for another location, or to shoot the sitter outside the building. It is this part of the challenge that I enjoy the most.

The people in the images below were all photographed by myself, and all feature in the spring edition of LSBU’s South Bank Magazine.
