Last January 3, 2018, Tyler and I got engaged.Â
With the help of family and friends, I had planned this whole elaborate proposal on our patio overlooking the city: I invited family and a bunch of his childhood friends, my sister and I decked our patio out with lights, my friends and I lined the stairs all the way up to our fourth floor patio with candles, and my mom helped me prepare a meal for the mini-engagement party that followed.
As it turns out, Ty had a surprise of his own.
Ty and I met on Tumblr in 2011. I was in the Philippines, he was in North Carolina. He had followed my mostly-comic-book blog, and I followed him back. Cute and into comic books? He was too good to be true. Turns out, it was my perception of truth that needed adjusting because he was all that and more.
We got to go through the entire process of meeting and falling in love again when we finally met in person in 2015 in NYC. We were both in the city to pursue further studies. It was kismet. We were kismet. We moved in together, and officially became boyfriends on November 11, 2015. We’ve since had our ups and our downs, and through it all, I’ve only fell more in love with him everyday. He’s my #1 cheerleader, my better half, my best friend. This proposal’s been a long time coming, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with him.
