Ever since that dialogue between Varric and Blackwall, I’ve wanted Blackwall on a horse. (I also need an outlet for my unfulfilled Renaissance Festival energy this year.) Since we’ll never get an Inquisition road trip to Markham... here’s Blackwall ready for a joust!
Inspired also by TheFaye92′s fic “Two-Hundred Roses”!
Why is it impossible? I know you have feelings for me.
New HC: In preparation for the Winter Palace the Inquisition holds dance lessons. Most people take this seriously, then there's Sera goofing off with Bull and then there is Varric and Hawke. The two are doing a bloody tango, rose included, somehow they got the fitting outfits, and they absolutely nail it.
Ah, I do have a story in my head, where my Canon Player, Asilien, who is a ‘hick’ from Ostwick, having no idea on how to dance. In embarrassment that the Great and Powerful Inquisitor has no dance knowledge, she attempts to practice by herself in her room, reading and failing to learn from a book.
And that’s when Blackwall shows up. He silenlty watches her fumble yet another dance step, and only then does he make his presence known. Asilien is completely mortified, and tries to make excuses, before finally breaking down and explaining she has never needed to learn how to dance.
And that’s when Blackwall offers to teach her, much to her surprise. He expertly teaches her the basic moves (since this is going to be a big ball with a diverse set of guests, he tells her, only the most popular dances will be needed, not any of the new most fashionable ones) until she knows all the moves off by heart.
And that’s when she asks the question that shows up in-game.
“I didn’t know you could dance”
“I did… in another life”
He protec… BUT HE ALSO ATTAC

Possibly my least favorite part of the Blackwall romance is the Inquisitor line, "You're brooding... I like brooding." Like, please, I know he's got some emotional turmoil to work through, but the healthy response to that is not, "That really turns me on," it's, "Can I help?" And maybe they're not ready to talk about it yet, but maybe they want to kiss you about it for a bit and that's how you get a sex scene out of that scenario without sounding like a tactless fangirl.
The real reason the Hero of Ferelden wasn’t in Inquisition. Especially my hero, because she’s a little shit who has never met the real Blackwall, but would absolutely pretend once she realized she couldn’t sense him.
Him Big will always be hot to me. Not because she tiny. That's lame. Quit making her 4'10.
If she's 100 lbs soaking wet, who cares if he can carry her over a shoulder? So could I, he's not special.
