“Oh dear lord.” Bard whimpered, shaking her head. “We both know that that is not a good thing.”
“Maybe we should get out of here?”
Adrenaline flooded his system, making him even more alert. Gawain knew that this was a high risk, high reward mission. There was too much at stake, and while he hated putting Bayla in this position, he was only able to achieve so much when it came to hacking into a computer system the likes of which they were hoping to gain access to, hence why he volunteered to be the one to actually watch her back when it came time to break into the building and complete their end goals.
❝Not yet, Bard,❞ he murmured. He kept his voice low in case they really were being tracked. James risked the couple of seconds it took for him to look over his shoulder and back at the young woman, offering her what he hoped would be a reassuring smile, even if it was a little faint. ❝Don’t worry, I promise I won’t let anything happen to you.❞
