shitty situations are never particularly fun/enjoyable for obvious reasons, but there is something encouraging about recalling this time of year last year and being able to clearly acknowledge that I’m significantly better prepared to deal with the sort of unfortunate news I just received than I was 12 months ago.
#mellie memos#like. it’s going to suck#and i’m going to be grieving over my birthday again#and i hate that#(and am allowed to say that)#but to know that i’ve personally grown in ways i hadn’t expected is really nice#and i sort of love when that happens#that said: wish it didn’t accompany this sort of shit#but i put time and effort into these growth measures#proactively#and it’s heartening to know that it was worthwhile? if that makes sense?#and that doesn’t even BEGIN to cover the support system of today vs the support system of 12 months ago lol#because that’s a comparison that could launch a thousand think pieces#anyway#hard things are hard#x2 for the depression#etc etc etc#but that my reactions and responses to this news have largely been akin to gbbo cake/pie blunders is so nice for me
