If you're appalled by what's happening, and are close with someone who isn't full on deep MAGA, but thinks things are basically normal and will defend the way they voted if pushed.

This probably works particularly well if you are a woman, talking to a husband or father who sees himself as a protector. Who is into self defense and responsible gun ownership, and has done things like suggesting you take a CPL course or asking you not to walk alone. Basically, a person who already worries about home invasions or you getting pulled into a vehicle by strangers, and cares about you more than politics.

You need to show a concrete, verifiable example of unidentified, un-uniformed ICE agents doing something to an American citizen, unprovoked, for a reason that could plausibly apply to someone like you.

Ask, "If something like that happens to me, what should I do? Normally, if a group of men tried to pull me into a van, I would kick balls, gouge eyes, and generally cause pain. But these people aren't showing any identification, and are going after Americans who criticize them or who they suspect might be hiding someone. Either of those could apply to me. So how do I know whether or not I'm resisting arrest? Do I just... not resist?"
