a man wears his life like cologne. experiences and expectations seep into skin, leaving lasting memories and wafts of interest at the most subtle of gestures and scents. it’s easy for him to associate certain things with ignis; impressions that perfume the air, like dark roasts and bitter almond clinging to the edges of his mouth, the line of his jaw: places that prompto has nudged, nosed, and kissed all over – the most obvious. yet there’s clove and smoky vanilla for his hands, something to make this blond’s mouth water and his face flush – the brush along his cheekbones and he shudders, overcome with a deep, musky saccharine desire. especially when taut, experience fingers grip his chin in demand, overwhelmed and overcome by the spice that lingers just simply beneath nails. but finally, he always catches notes of amber and vetiver in dusky tresses, his own lips hover to press affection to a peaked line of hair in the aftermath of their physical experiences – a touch of sandalwood behind his ears, probably soap that had been used beforehand.
he recognizes and adores them all, tittering softly over a cup of coffee ( sweetened and indulged with cream ) in the morning, a flush coming to his face as he peers over the mug at the man who holds that scent like a religion. or the momentary pause that takes his sighs at night over decadent desserts usually made for their future king’s benefit – all of them completely and utterly ignis, his ignis, and he curls around himself in the nights not spent together, smiling at the barest whisper of those memories that now seems to hang on his skin too.
