Cassie: had been having a hard time with getting Jayce out of her head even sober, so now that she was drunk and alone with her thoughts at 4 in the morning, she had no chance of forgetting about him. She didn't want to, in fact. Rather than stumble her way through another text, she read his response, then immediately switched to the FaceTime app, scrolling messily until she found Jayce's name. Cassie hit the call button, holding the phone out in front of her, her drunk eyes crossing in an attempt to focus on the screen.

NOTES ➝ Jayce isn’t happy when he sees Cassie making out with some random guy at the club, so tells her how he’s feeling.
Cassie wasn’t sure how long she’d been here, or how many drinks she’d had, but she was definitely drunk. Which was super easy for her lately, considering how tiny her body was, and how she was getting no actual, adequate nutrients into it. Plus, she was out with her friends from the strip club—Frank not included—and there was no such thing as being sober during a night out with them. She didn’t even know where they currently were, all she knew was that it was a club, the music was loud, the dance floor was pretty full, and she hadn’t stopped dancing or drinking since she’d gotten here. Sometimes, she’d find herself dancing alone, though there’d generally be a bunch of people around her. How could there not be? She was hot, and wearing minimal clothing. That, and dancing was her thing, it was what she was good at, so naturally she’d gather an audience. If she wasn’t dancing alone, there’d be some of the girls from the club with her, or there’d be some random guy. At this particular moment, it was the random guy option. Cassie had no clue who he was, but that didn’t stop her from totally grinding on him as she danced, and not caring about his hands on her hips. Instead of yelling as they slid around to the back, she just smirked up at him, leaning up to give him the kiss she could tell he wanted. He leaned in to meet her halfway.
Jayce had no reason to be out that night, other than the fact that he hadn't been in awhile. It's not like he stayed at home or anything, but going out to a club hadn't been too appealing to him lately. Jayce went out for one reason and one reason only. To hook up with girls. He wasn't a dancer, unless a hot girl asked him to dance, so he would usually stand off to the side and have a drink; just waiting to find the girl he wanted to spend the night with. Only, he wasn't hooking up with anyone lately. He kept telling himself that he didn't know why he felt that way, but that was a lie. Even he wasn't that stupid. The reason he wasn't chasing after girls was because there was only one worth chasing after. He really had thought that his crush was long gone. That he and Cassie were only best friends and that was fine. He even stopped feeling jealous, which was something he felt all the time when they were younger. He had accepted that they wouldn't be anything then, but seeing another dude all over her still hurt. It took awhile to get past that, but he had. Then they slept together. One drunken hook up and it was like he was that kid all over again. Except his feelings felt more intense this time around. That's probably why as he stood there, noticing his best friend for the first time since he got there, he saw red. He couldn't even control himself as he moved across the floor, forcing himself between her and some random guy she was dancing with. "Dude, back off." He hissed, pushing the guy away from Cassie. "Do you always try picking up someone else's girl?" It was obvious that Jayce wasn't thinking clearly. He had no right to do that and he knew it. He just didn't care.
Cassie probably wouldn’t have been doing this if she’d been sober. She had very little interest in randomly making out with random guys lately, which was so weird to her, because it was something she would usually do just to pass the time. If she was being honest with herself, there was only one guy she’d choose to do anything with, but she wasn’t about to be that honest. If it meant not screwing up the relationship she had with her best friend, she’d happily continue to lie to herself about how she was feeling, and maybe that was the motivation behind everything she was doing tonight. Drinking helped her to take her mind off of not only the fact that she was starving, but also off of the person she shouldn’t be thinking about the way she was. Dancing helped with the latter, too. Evidently, so did making out with random guys. With that in mind, maybe she shouldn’t have felt so weirdly relieved when she felt something between she and the nameless guy whose lips had been coming at her in anything but an appealing way. Even more so, when she heard the voice and recognized it so quickly, she was pissed at herself for the way her heart began to race, the speed only picking up when her eyes opened and she saw who she thought it was. With Jayce between the two of them, Cassie stumbled back slightly, but she kept her balance somehow, her brows knitting together as she heard his words over the music. Someone else’s girl? Who else’s girl was she? “Um,” she cleared her throat, tapping Jayce on the shoulder, then planting her hands on her hips as she looked up at him with an annoyed expression on her face. “What the fuck are you doing?”
Jayce never would have done something like this before. He had been really good at living in denial. Even as a kid, when he wasn't the most subtle about his crush, he never would have gotten between Cassie and some guy. She wasn't his and she never had been. That's what he told himself when they were younger. That she wasn't his. It hurt him, of course, but it wasn't like he was heartbroken. He was a kid with a crush that he got over. He wasn't that kid anymore. He was a man now. A man that may have been a little confused by his feelings, but he knew that it wasn't like before. This wasn't no damn crush. It was so much more than that. That's why he didn't even feel a little guilty about what had just happened. What was there to feel guilty about? This was some random dude, he didn't mean anything to Cassie. He sure as hell didn't mean anything to Jayce. As he stood there, waiting for the guy to do something, he couldn't help but sigh when he walked away. Jayce was fully prepared for a fight. Not that he was looking for one, but that wouldn't have stopped him. That guy had no business being all up on Cassie like that. Just the thought of it made his skin crawl. For a moment, he was actually proud of what he had done. He wasn't sorry for getting in the way. He was actually smirking until he heard Cassie clear her throat. Whoops. "What?" He spun around quickly, focusing his attention on her. "Oh, come on. I totally just saved you. You can't tell me you were seriously interested in that guy, right?"
Cassie honestly wasn’t even mad, not about Jayce stopping her from kissing the guy. It wasn’t like she’d particularly wanted to kiss him anyway, so there was nothing to be mad about there. It was more so the fact that she was doing it to try to forget about Jayce, yet here he was, interrupting and making her heart beat harder just because it was him, and putting himself right there at the front of her mind all over again. That was what annoyed her, which was unfair to him, because he didn’t control how she was feeling. This wasn’t his fault. But, Cassie was terrible at ever taking the blame for anything, and would always project onto the nearest person. Unfortunately for Jayce, he was no exception. The smirk on his face was something that could really make her melt, and she hated that more than anything. She took a second to just admire it, before she felt even more annoyed with herself for liking what she saw so much. The anger she felt was definitely showing on her face as he turned to her, she was sure of that. “Saved me?” she questioned, her scowl only becoming more obvious. “Please, this is some trashy club, I don’t have to be interested in anyone to make out with them. That’s just what people do at these places, and you,” she reached up and gently pushed him, “have no right to save me. I don’t have to be interested in him, just like I don’t have to be interested in all of the other guys around here who can’t take their eyes off of me. I’m fucking hot, this is just what happens. It has literally nothing to do with you.” Her voice was raised over the music, though that was no surprise. Cassie wasn’t exactly the most subtle of people. “Why do you care so much, huh?”
Jayce wasn't that surprised when Cassie got pissed at him. He knew that he had no right to literally get between her and anybody else. If anyone was to ask him what he was thinking, he would tell them that he wasn't thinking. He saw and reacted. If he had time to think about it, Cassie would probably be making out with that guy right now. It didn't matter if he had a right to do that or not, he wasn't going to let that happen. Even if his best friend was pissed right now. So pissed she was practically screaming at him right now, but that could also be because of the music. As soon as he noticed that there were people staring at them, he decided it would probably be best for both of them to at least get off the dance floor. If she wanted to be pissed at him then that was fine, but she could tell him off where there wasn't a bunch of people watching them. "Will you calm down? Just, come on." He said, grabbing her by the hand and leading her away from the crowd. There was no way he was gonna have this argument in front of a bunch of strangers. Especially when they can both say some pretty stupid things when they were angry. He was also pretty sure Cassie was drunk, so yeah; being alone was the best thing for them. He practically yanked her into the closest bathroom, making sure no one was in it or watching them when he locked the door. "Okay, now we can actually talk." He sighed, letting go of her hand. "Anyway, why do I care so much? I just do. That guy isn't worth your attention. In fact, none of the guys are woth shit. Not one of them is good enough for you."
Cassie was a difficult person to stop once she’d gotten started, and she was already on a roll now. She could’ve definitely kept going, but Jayce cut her off, and soon his hand was in hers and he was tugging her away from the crowd of people that were staring. It wasn’t unlike Cassie to unintentionally cause a scene, so she didn’t even flinch or wipe the pissed off look off of her face. She simply continued to glare at the back of Jayce’s head as he pulled her away, not bothering to question him or try to pull away. The truth was, she liked her hand in his, no matter what the circumstances. What she didn’t really like, of course, was the fact that she was almost falling over her own feet as they walked considering the alcohol in her system was doing its job, and she especially didn’t like that they wound up in a bathroom. She didn’t even see whether it had been the men’s or ladies room, although she figured it didn’t matter. Cassie wasn’t sure whether to let go of his hand or not once they were inside, but as she felt Jayce’s grip loosen on hers, she yanked her own away, wanting it to look like it was her decision for them to part, not his. She hated not being in control. “Yeah, you’d better talk,” she yelled, despite it being much quieter in here. The music was still blasting out in the club, but much more faintly in the bathrooms. She crossed her arms and glared up at her best friend, waiting for an explanation. She didn’t like the one she got. “Are you fucking kidding me, Jayce? I didn’t realize you got to decide that for me, who is and isn’t good enough. But if that’s the case, then go ahead,” she uncrossed her arms, throwing them up in frustration, “Who is good enough for me? Since apparently it has anything to do with you.”
Jayce wished that they could have had this conversation somewhere else, but truth be told, he wouldn't have even thought about discussing it if this didn't happen. He wasn't the best about expressing his feelings. In fact, even if most people knew, he never admitted to his old crush. Subtle he was not, but that didn't mean he would ever just admit to anything. He was the king of denial. But how long could he actually deny this? Before he would make comments about whatever guys Cassie was with, so it's not like he's never shown his jealousy. He's just never gone this far. Now that he had, there was really no denying why. Or maybe he could deny it, come up with a lame excuse, but he didn't want to keep doing that. Maybe this was stupid, maybe it wasn't. If he didn't say anything, though, it will always bother him. He will always wonder how things could have been different. Instead of answering her straight away, he leaned forward and pressed his lips against hers. It was a quick kiss. He wasn't trying to start a make out session, he just wanted to kiss her. "No one." He said, pulling away from her. "There isn't a single person on this earth good enough for you." He sighed, swallowing around the lump forming in his throat. "But no one would be better for you than me. I know that for sure."
Cassie wanted answers. Usually, when that happened, there was a specific answer she wanted, but not here. She didn’t know what she wanted to hear, she just knew she needed him to give her some kind of explanation, otherwise she’d go over and over this whole thing in her head until it drove her crazy. Crazier than he’d already been making her feel. The scowl on her face was practically fixed in place as she waited for him to say something, and despite how it took her aback when he leaned in to kiss her, it still didn’t disappear. It was only a small, quick kiss, but despite her expression and how out of nowhere it was, Cassie kissed him back, not even knowing what to say in response. So, she said nothing; just continued to look up at him with that same impatient, irritated look. She hated how much she loved the feeling of his lips against hers, even if only for the short amount of time they’d just been there. She’d been craving Jayce ever since the night they’d hooked up at his place, and now that he was right there in front of her again, she only wanted him more. To his response, Cassie rolled her eyes. She knew she was awesome, but what a dumb line. She wasn’t that special, no matter how she may have acted. She was about to say so, though as Jayce continued, it stopped her in her tracks. Her expression switched quickly from pissed off to surprised, then a little confused. “What?” she whispered, her throat feeling dry. She hated how right he was. No one even compared to Jayce as far as she was concerned; they hadn’t for a while. With that in mind, Cassie didn’t even need to think about her next move. She simply stepped forward, reaching up to rest her hand on the back of his neck and tug him gently down towards her, her eyes closing and her lips crashing into his.
Jayce basically threw all logic out the window. The only thing keeping him from telling the truth had been his fear of losing Cassie. He thought he could deal with his feelings until they eventually went away. Cassie was his best friend. She meant more to him anyone else. If the two of them were meant to only be friends, he knew that he could live with that. Or he thought he could. From the moment he met her, he knew that she was going to be special to him. He didn't realize just how right he was until now. Maybe he couldn't live with just being her friend. He's been doing that for years, and even though he appreciated their friendship, he couldn't do it anymore. He couldn't act like he wasn't crazy about her. Like he hadn't been feelings these things for awhile. Even he knew that he wasn't the most subtle person. Eventually, he would have ended up saying exactly what he just said. It's not the most ideal way of saying it, considering they were in a bathroom of some club. Not exactly the place to confess your feelings, but he had and there was no taking it back. He almost wished the he could when he saw Cassie roll her eyes. Maybe he was being a little dramatic here, though he meant what he just said. It didn't matter what she thought about herself, Jayce will always think no one was good enough. That even he wasn't good enough, but that had never stopped him from wanting her. He sighed at her question, hoping he wouldn't have to explain what he meant. Lucky for him, he didn't have to. His lips were being pressed against her again and he would be lying if he said it wasn't the best feeling ever. He kissed her back, hoping that she wasn't so drunk that she didn't realize what this meant to him. Or that he wasn't wrong to assume it meant just as much to her.
Cassie usually knew how to manipulate any situation to work in her favor, but not this one. Ever since she and Jayce had hooked up, she’d been completely at a loss about what to do or how to think or feel. All she knew was that her actual feelings were dangerous, and that she wanted to ignore them. It was easy enough to do when she was keeping herself busy and away from him. He’d still be on her mind, but at least she could ignore her thoughts when he wasn’t right there in front of her. How could she do that now? Especially when he was saying everything she didn’t know she’d wanted him to say. A part of her wanted to tell him that he was right, no one would be as good for her as he would, but that would make all of this too real. Cassie wanted to live in denial a little longer. She’d just have to forget that actions speak louder than words, because there was no way she could stop herself now, especially not when her lips were against his and he began to kiss her back. Cassie brought her other arm up to wrap both around his neck, deepening the kiss a little. It didn’t matter that she was drunk; she wasn’t too drunk to realize what she was doing. She’d been more drunk the first time they’d hooked up, and she’d been totally aware of what was happening then, so she definitely was now. Pulling back from the kiss, but keeping her arms around him and staying close, Cassie opened her eyes to look at him, her heart still racing. “I don’t want to talk about what this means,” she whispered, shaking her head, “Not right now.” Her arms tightened around him, holding him closer. She knew they’d have to talk about it eventually, but not yet. She wasn’t prepared, though she couldn’t stop herself from saying what she’d been stopping herself from saying before. “But you’re right; no one would be better for me than you.”
Jayce wasn't the kind of person to talk about his feelings. He's had relationships in the past where he wouldn't even say he liked someone unless they said it first. That's just the way he had always been. Although confident when it came to sex, he wasn't the most confident when it came to actually liking someone. He never actually thought he would tell Cassie how he felt. It's not like he was confessing his undying love for her, but it wasn't that far off for him. What this would mean for them down the line, he didn't know. All he knew was that he was happy now. As the two of them kissed, it felt better knowing that he was completely sober this time. He couldn't use the alcohol as an excuse again and he didn't want to. He placed his hands on her hips, knowing that this time around, he was thinking clearly. He couldn't be any more obvious that he wanted her, he just wasn't denying it anymore. "Oh, um." He mumbled as she pulled away. If he was being completely honest, he wasn't even sure what they would talk about. He talked about his feelings enough for one day. "That's fine. We don't have to talk about anything." He said, giving her a reassuring smile as he hugged her back, holding her as close as he possibly could. The two of them would probably have to talk eventually, but hearing her say he was right was more than enough. "But just so you know, that's not one sided. No one would be better for me than you, too."
Cassie could generally ignore the other person when it came down to making out. As long as she was enjoying herself, she didn’t care how they were feeling or what they were doing. Honestly, if she could do it solo, she probably would. However, that wasn’t the same with Jayce. She was aware of every movement he made; the way his lips moved against hers, the way his hands rested on her hips. Cassie couldn’t be sure, but she almost thought she felt her skin tingling under his touch, like he was causing goosebumps to rise beneath his hands. Given her outfit—or lack thereof—no matter where he touched her, he’d probably be touching bare skin. Just like she’d been aware of his movements when their lips had been pressed together, she was aware of his actions now. She noticed how he seemed to hesitate, and how he was mumbling. Something inside of her made her want to comfort him, to let him know everything was okay. Even if she was just as terrified, too. She let one arm fall a little, just so she could rest her hand on the side of his neck, her fingertips brushing softly against his skin. Her other arm remained tightly around him, though. She really didn’t want to let go. Her stare stayed fixed on his face as he spoke, and in contrast with the pissed off look she’d had written all over her features before, she gave him a small, gentle smile in response to his words, softly nodding her head. She wasn’t sure what else to say without getting too deeply into everything, and she really didn’t want to do that. So, instead, she just leaned back up again, the hand on his neck sliding up to cup his cheek, while her lips pressed delicately to his once more.

Jayce Anderson had always been a troublemaker. He liked having fun and rarely thought about the consequences. If he had to count the number of times he was actually in trouble, he wouldn’t be able to do it. He did it all. From gluing his kindergarten teacher to a chair, to stealing the cheer-leading uniforms while they were in the shower. It got to the point where his parents thought of him as a rebel, but he wouldn’t view himself that way. He didn’t have a problem with authority, despite it seeming that way. He wasn’t craving attention or crying out for help. If anything, he was a normal boy who did whatever he could for a laugh. He didn’t think it was so weird. Everyone else seemed to, though. Not that he would let any of them stop him. No matter how many times he managed to get into trouble, he was just as good as getting himself out of it. That’s what he did. It never lasted that long, but why would it when he knew how to charm his way out? It was a talent he had no problem taking advantage of.
Unfortunately for Jayce, you can’t charm everyone. One night his habit of getting in trouble went too far. He and his friends thought they were so clever. They loved to skateboard and had this idea to make a video, one that they were sure would go viral. In order for them to do that, the group had to do something worth watching. They thought they were lucky to have a friend who worked as mall security. He waited until it was late, way past the mall’s closing time, to sneak out and head over there. Jayce was the last to arrive, entering the building with his friends when he got there. The plan was simple. They were going to do their best tricks in an empty mall. They knew that they weren’t supposed to be there, but they didn’t care. It was all about making a video to show off their skills. By the end of it, they were all pretty proud of what they had done. There was a broken window and a few potted plants ended up shattered, but they figured it was all worth it. If they were smart, they never would have posted the video online. It was technically proof of breaking in and vandalism. They were just too stupid to see that. And this time, Jayce was going to pay the consequences.
He thought that being the son of famous parents would get him out of trouble. He was only sixteen when he was arrested, so they would have to bail him out at some point, right? Wrong. He knows now that his parents only did what they thought was best. They loved him and figured a night in jail would teach him a lesson. It did. He didn’t change overnight or anything, but he did make a promise not to break the law. As long as his parents promised to help him out. Luckily for him, his parents came through with an amazing lawyer. As long as the paid for the damages, they were able to get away with community service, which was mostly picking up trash on the freeway. All of their parents also demanded they take the video down, so that’s exactly what they did. It could still be found somewhere online, though. It went viral, just like they wanted. They really should have thought of that before.
Determined to stay out of trouble, Jayce spent his senior year of high school being a model student. He still had fun with his friends, but he also did his homework and kept the trouble away from school. He even kept his promise not to break the law, so whenever his friends got too wild, he would get out. He wanted to be more than that. After graduation, there was no question what he was doing. Despite the trouble it caused, he had a passion for skateboarding. He was good at it and he always planned on making a career out of it. He made an agreement to go to college, showing his parents that he was serious about his future. Although he still planned on skating, he decided to major in graphic design. He was decent at drawing and liked the idea of making his own designs on the computer. He figured after his successful skating career, he can achieve his ultimate goal of designing his very own skate park.
BABY, THERE'S NO OTHER SUPERSTAR
Jayce has natural curly hair that he absolutely hates, so he always keeps his head shaved. He is 5'7 and muscular. He takes pride in his appearance and can often be found in designer clothes, except for when he’s skating, since more often than not, he will end up ripping them at some point.
