If you want good service, do not do the following. A few weeks ago, I heard a distant "excuse me", and from force of habit, I looked up. A lady, about 10m away from me, put her arm in the air and said "Yeah! You!" She points to the ground, with her arm still in the air, "come here and help me!" I was really shocked at first, wondering if she was even talking to me, but quickly realised she was when she followed it up with "I'm waiting!" Acting like this will not get you good service.

My white mother, who has taken to complaining about the English skills of Asian nail salon workers to me, thinks that I, her multi-racial Asian woman of color daughter, would just LOVE "The Help" because it's sooooo progressive.
