We’re big fans - you will be too. Here’s the ‘about me’ bit - Louisa Boyd is a multidisciplinary artist who works with paint, print and sculpture. Her work is inspired by the natural world, and she is fascinated by the innate human response to nature. Cartography motifs, both celestial and terrestrial, natural landmarks and sacred geometry feature in Louisa’s prints that consider the persistent human desire to belong within the natural world. The map-like images in Louisa’s work suggest navigation of both the physical, material world as well as the individual, emotional journey we make through life. By layering abstract, drawn imagery made with traditional drawing tools and printmaking processes with more abstract painterly marks, the outcomes are a visual fusion of historic and contemporary ideas. Louisa has worked professionally as an artist for over 20 years exhibiting both nationally and internationally. Her pieces are included in public and private collections worldwide and she is recognised regularly through prestigious juried exhibitions. Recent exhibition highlights include: New Light Prize Exhibition, Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, John. Ruskin Prize Exhibition and the Flourish Award Exhibition where she was awarded the Great Art Prize for her paper sculptures using etching and screen prints.
