I learned most of my photography skills by practicing, but also from the wisdom that so many photographers shared on the web that inspired me to start this blog. I believe that outstanding education should be free and accesible to everyone, and internet is a mayor player in this endeavor. From now on I will post my personal photographic experiences. Let's start by talking about "Publications." When I came to New York I found a print magazine in my neighborhood, W42 ST, to show my work, that kept me working while connecting with the locals. This process is key and might take a while, from one to several years, depending on your social and marketing skills. Today I'm celebrating more than a year of publishing every month. The woman in the pictures is Meghan Boledovich, a forager who works for Print restaurant in Hell's Kitchen NYC. Her job is to act as a liaison between the farm and the table, carefully selecting each vegetable to be prepared. I was so lucky to have her as my subject. My assignment was to capture a working day at the greenmarket at Union Square. That day the light was unique and my bouncer became my main tool throughout the session. I'm a speedlight photographer so I felt a little bit outside of my comfort zone working the way that I did with Meghan, but at the end I was happy with the results and the editors of the magazine too. The retouching was minimal. To identify good natural light is a skill that took me a few years by playing and experimenting. Moving light modifiers around the subject has been key in understanding light.
