Back to Norway. Back to Oslo. Back after nearly a decade and a half away to sunnier and brighter places. Her return was only by necessity. If she had a choice, Sila would be on a beach in Spain and not bundled up in layer upon layer to trudge through the city she spent a mere five years in. This was where the case dictated she go so there she was.
Those five years were some of the most unpleasant of her life; now confident, calm, and cool, then a gangly boundary over-stepping nerd who couldn't speak Norwegian. It was a high school experience from hell, likely made worse by her own stubbornness. No matter now. She was an adult now. Even if one of her greatest opponents from then was now the person she needed assistance from. Besides, maybe he wouldn't remember her.
Sila took a deep breath then entered his office once given the go ahead. "Good morning, Chief Inspector Waaler." She said. "We spoke on the phone previously. Sila Balik, working with Interpol on the Redwing Case." The international serial killer whose numbers were rising steadily as the months passed. The case she traced back to Norway.
