Commission for a friend that wanted a Mirrorverse Corrupted version of Princess Eilonwy from The Black Cauldron. This was fun to do, specially because it's been so long I have done this soft shading style.

So I have been meaning to take some photos of Alice with my miniature tea cups and stuff, and with my recent influx of kid Disney dolls I figured it would be nice to have them all together. Fun fact, the tea set with playing cards motifs is something I've had in my collection since my mid-teens and it's nice being able to finally have them for a photo. The only tea pot I have is actually from a Madeline Hatter Purse with the handle removed but since my only other tea cups have a white and gold motif they look nice together. I've been wanting to make an Eilonwy doll, from the movie The Black Cauldron, just to go with my Disney Store Alice and Wendy dolls. But part of me was putting it off cuz it felt so silly rerooting a blonde doll into a slightly darker blonde doll. But since lockdown started I've slowly been chugging away at rerooting her. I probably could have done it in a day but my general mental health from the lockdown hasn't been great with retaining focus. But she uses honey blonde saran from @customdollhairAU which I like for Eilonwy as I feel it gives her a more muted 80s animated vibe than the lemony yellow Alice had. The Disney Store Alice and Wendy Darling has been some of my favourite play line dolls released in a long time so I've been wanting a third character to go with them. Honestly, I must admit I hadn't seen The Black Cauldron in its entirety until my adulthood because I found the main character to be incredibly difficult to care for, and the only character I really liked was Princess Eilonwy. It took a bit of casual research but finding out that a significant portion of the film was heavily messed with due to executives like Jeffrey Katzenberg and the fact that crucial aspects of the film have been lost to time made me rewatch the film with a more open mind, especially with how characters develop or how the story plays out. That and knowing this was made in the 80s has this sort of fatalistic streak woven throughout the film made it a lot easier to consume especially as a 90s kid who wouldn't have deal with the background horror of the cold war. And honestly I can see why it has such a cult following, because it really was a film of lost potential, and part of me wonders what kind of world we'd be living in if this film was allowed to be made in its original vision, and the Disney Renaissance was brought forward before Who Framed Roger Rabbit came out. Anyway, I've struggled with sewing this outfit for Eilonwy cuz the fabrics aren't quite to my liking, but being forced to stay inside I had to make do with what I had.
