wrestling fans have proven its pretty much impossible to have an all women/women heavy wrestling promotion. Fans wont show unless men are on the card. You can barely get wrestling fans to go to a non WWE show as it is, trying to get them to sit through a 7 match card of all womens matches is like asking the wolf from the betty boop cartoons to not do that whistling thing for 7 episodes. Wrestling fans dont want to participate in anything that isnt grown and raised in the soil of misogyny
you’re absolutely right. wrestling fans can say they’re pro-women’s wrestling, but they won’t attend anything that doesn’t have more men’s matches than women’s. it’s still rooted in that misogynistic ideology that a wrestling event’s default is men wrestling. the women are just a “bonus” and they should get a “pat on the back” for showcasing women for 30 minutes. for me, the perfect event would be one where the matches line up evenly. men then women then men then women, and so on and so forth. and they can mix it together, have men vs women. but, like you said, people would see too many women’s matches and wouldn’t want to attend.
but an all women promotion should be able to thrive. it should be able to be at the caliber of these other promotions and should be a serious threat for/in viewership. but for some reason wrestling fans think they’re going to be missing something that only the men can offer and idk what that ‘it’ is. because, as far as im concerned, the women have just as much to offer as the men. but, like you said, wrestling fans don’t want to participate in anything that isn’t grown and raised in the soil of misogyny. very very true.
