Last week, the doors of the winter hotel, Icehotel 2019 edition were opened ! Thirty years ago, Icehotel founder Yngve Bergqvist started a journey that would lead to the world's first hotel of ice and snow in in the north of Sweden. Today, the hotel has had over a million visitors from all continents of the world.  More than 30 artists from 16 countries spent several weeks in the village of Jukkasjärvi to create the hotel (made entirely out of ice and snow from the free-flowing Torne River) under the guidance of Luca Roncoroni, the hotel’s new creative director. The hotel uses 1,000 blocks of ice, each weighing 2.5 tons.
