#pride crafts

I finally got around to stitching one of @cinimuffin's gorgeous pride moth designs!

I stitched the first moth from this chart on vinyl canvas, making an oversized bag charm. I did find the black sections where the wings join onto the body a little tricky to count, because the grid lines blend into the blocks, but I'm also not good at the counting part of cross stitch.

I found an old scrapbook at a secondhand supply store this month, and decided to start adding some collage art to it!

I already had this piece i made from some stickers, business cards, and an old comic book. It’s on a piece of regular construction paper, 9x12 i think. Not too bad for the first try in awhile! I like these rules to live by - so far it’s felt like what being 26 years old is all about.

I’m really proud of this one, this is made entirely of items I got for free during pride month events! There’s everything on here, including:

-A sign given to me at a pride parade

-Brochures from local craft stores, LGBT medical clinics, and the local DSA branch

-Two extra pride flags, one gay pride flag and one progress pride flag (i took them off their little sticks)

-Entry wristbands to various events I went to

-Flowers from a lei, a piece of a lanyard, and pieces of rubber wristbands

-Lots of chopped up business cards (I made sure to follow them on their socials before i cut em)

-An old postcards i just realized i had a duplicate of

-Probably other things i’m forgetting!

Some things in the works. I have the trans ribbon with me, as you guys have seen in my last post with the cilice. I have several other pride flags coming in 3/8 inch ribbon.

Did I create this display to celebrate Aromantic Visibility Day? Nope, this is how my dolls dress every day...

Unfortunately, they're a bit small for pendants: the card charms are only 11 mm high. I hung both spades from a fine chain and one of my custom twisted cords to show scale. While I think you can get away with the suit charms on a necklace, the ace cards may better work for earrings, charm bracelets or zipper pulls.

(I ended up using the ace of spades on a necklace for my fashion dolls.)

I indulged myself in making something I've wanted to try for the last couple of years: a flag dress. I sewed both dresses by hand and, yes, those tiered skirts took forever!

As both dresses involved my experimenting with proportions (bodice length, skirt width and skirt length), I haven't created a final pattern. I still want to make a few tweaks, but I hope my third attempt will get me the dramatic pride dress of my dreams.
