#Flashback Friday: What you should know about...RADIOACTIVE FALLOUT
After last week’s break from the dangers of radioactive fallout, we thought we’d round out September with just one more national preparedness memo. This 31-page booklet prepared by the Federal Civil Defense Administration was meant to inform citizens on what to do in the case of an H-bomb, how to prepare for evacuation and shelter needs, and to educate on best practices to survive the radioactive fallout.
In case you didn’t already know:
“The best was to avoid the effects of any bomb is to be somewhere else when it goes off” (page 17).
Of course, we recognize that evacuation is not always possible, so make sure you follow this guide and the directions of your local Civil Defense organization. If these pictures aren’t clear enough instruction for you, take a look at these other pamphlets for more details!
