preds fans! read forth for an important note regarding your newest swede (i may make a full primer on him eventually but i implore you to read this too)
your jerseys will say otherwise, but his name is hƶglander, not hoglander. yes, thereās a difference. the swedish alphabet has 29 letters. A to Z, as well as Ć, Ć , and Ć. therefore O and Ć are completely different letters. so itās not just a matter of not having an accent on a letter, itās not even the correct letter at all. in 2021 when he came into the league, and after a lot of fan criticism @ the team, nils became the first canuck to have diacritics put on his jersey. (our little history makerš„²) i hope more teams will soon get on board with actually spelling their players names correctly.
(fun fact, itās not technically an umlaut, though i still catch myself calling it such. oops. umlauts are a german thing)
also, nobody cares if you say hoggy/hog whatever, i do so myself. go wild with the nicknames! the possibilities are endless. i just wanted you to know that since nashville unfortunately doesnāt use diacritics, his name will be spelled incorrectly on his jersey. but hopefully that will change one day.
